Take a first step and switch to Diet Coke. That eliminates the fattening sugars in regular coke. That gets rid of what is most bad for you. If it is the caffeine in it that you are after try drinking some non-decaffeinated between the regular ones to reduce that part of the craving. Try to end up with just non-caffeinated. This cut back buys you some time to work on the next steps.
Try going longer between those diet cokes. Maybe after you drink one, then when the next craving comes along, try drinking something else (even that hated water). You might even want to take a little flavored unsweetened water to stretch the time between cokes. Make it a personal goal to get most of your thirst quenched without cokes. That way you might get to a coke-free thirst quenching which means your addition is gone.

Any kind of cola is bad for you, I know what you are talking about... I have the same issues with Pepsi... You are addicted to the caffeine in Coke. Have you tried drinking Sprite instead? Find out what other non-caffeinated cola drinks you would like then just drink that at first... Once you stop craving coke, then start drinking flavored carbonated water... then maybe club soda or seltzer water I like mine with a little slice of lemon. Then regular water, with lemon... lemon really freshens the taste of water for me.
Good Luck, this is very hard for me to do too...

It took me a little while to break my coke habbit (drinking as much as 4-5 cans a day) but swich to diet cokes and flavored waters. Diet is much better for you health wise but can still give you that caffene you need because if you're addicted to cokes, you depend on that caffine. Give it time, it won't heal overnight, but it takes a lot of "will power". Since I quit drinking cokes, I lost that extra boost of energy it gave me, so you need to get enough sleep. But you won't get used to water overnight. Just swich to diet and flavored waters, then move to water slowly. And you can still have a coke every now and then. Good luck quitting~

Just get it out of your way! It's harder to drink Coke if there isn't any in the fridge.
Plus, try flavoured water with sucralose (Splenda). That way you will cut the calories down to zero and still have a great taste! Don't buy anything with aspartame, it is reportedly bad for your health.

If you stop cold turkey, you will probably get nasty headaches, due to the caffeine.
Try to alternate between water and soda. It will help you transition. Throw in some Iced Tea.
I don't think you're craving the soda, you're craving the caffeine or the sugar.

It isn't easy, but I have quit. I had a monster headache for about 2 days from the caffeine withdrawal. I first cut down my consumption, once I was down to 5 diet cokes a day, I just quit. take advil for the headaches, then you will be free of coca cola!

once you get diabetes you'll have to give it up.
you just have to care enough about your health to give it up. try just having 1 a day for a week and then 1 a week.
and btw...by drinking 1 soda a day...you can gain 10 pounds a year.
try drink propel flavored water. or switch to diet drinks.
love yourself and be healthy.

Well, thats actually just as tough as a drug addiction. You will have withdrawals, headaches, etc. But if you try to just cut down slowly, eat a good diet, try taking a diet supplement that will cut your craving like chromium, you should be ok. Take it slow, Good Luck!
