Most christians claim the old testament isn't what they follow. If this is the case, why is the old testament still part of their bible? And since it is the "infallible" word of their god, is not abiding by this book a ticket to hell? According to some passages in Leviticus, parents are supposed to kill unruly children, homosexuals are to be killed, adulterers are to be killed, etc, etc....

Christians have some nerve to claim islam is a religion of terror when christianity is probably worse.

Today, b/c of Jesus Christ, we don't live in the world of Leviticus. Jesus' perfect self-sacrifice made the daily sacrifice of animals unnecessary. Jesus replaced the high priest as our representative before God. Jesus cleanses the real source of contamination, our sinful nature. This book was to teach people how to "live with fire", it was cramed with rules and procedures that is no longer needed in today's world. You are missing the big picture. It WAS a lawbook, a procedural manual for getting along with the Holy and powerful God. The sheer details may bore you, but careful attention to the point is the main key for the book. On a positive note, informing us of these old ways is the blessing of NOT having to live this way anymore.

Let us not take the Old Testament out of the context of the time that it was written in. The Old Testament is the law. It is the law by which the ancient Hebrews lived. God gave the Hebrews the law as a way of instilling obedience in them. When they were without the law, every man did according to what was good in his own sight. The law brought civil order and government to a people who were not used to governing themselves. In the beginning of any new society harsh rules need to be implemented in order to establish discipline, otherwise anarchy will rule. God did what he had to do in order to establish order. The law still applies today---God's word is eternal, it never goes out of style. Through the blood of Jesus Christ Christians have been relieved of the penalty of the law, however, which is eternal death. Christians that say that they do not live under the Old Testament are ignorant of God's ways. Let them commit murder and see what happens to them. The law will be quick to judge them and sentence them. God will for give them if they ask him, but they are still under the law if they violate it. The difference between Islam and Christianity is that there is no salvation in Islam---the Muslim is never sure of his position with God, but the Christian is always sure of where he stands with the Almighty.

The Old Testament is a history of some of the generations of people that lived before Jesus and how God influenced them. These are the rules that the people followed. I don't think that God condoned this behavior.

We believe that Jesus is God in human form and that he came to forgive people that sin (all of us). There is a story in the New Testament about a woman caught in adultery. A big crowd gathered and everyone wanted to stone her. Jesus told the crowd, "Let he who has never sinned cast the first stone." Slowly, one by one, they all walked away. Then Jesus told the woman "Go in peace, and sin no more." Jesus also told his followers to "love your enemy" and to "turn the other cheek."

Christianity is NOT a religion of terror. I don't know much about Islam, but I don't think it is a religion of terror either. I'm sorry if some Christians have told you that. They are loud, but they are in the minority. Most Christians don't feel that Islam is terror.

The problem is understanding what the Bible is all about; christians have no business with ancient Jewish traditions, just like Muslims should keep out ancient Arabic traditions from their religion.
The Good thing is Jews do not kill unruly children and homosexuals; neither do they stone whores to death.
Christians believe in Jesus who taught the new commandment of Love,,,not hate or murder.

Nearly all religions have to be taken with a pinch of salt and nearly everyone is aware of it.

However, the book of Leviticus havingmurder, does not make christianity a murderous religion. This is like saying, "How can the medical profession be said to be healing, when all the books are about disease and misery?"

Hope you get the point.

Yeah, i've got study many factors of it. I study from the two the old testomony and the hot. you're having hassle commencing up your secular lens to work out it from yet another attitude. "the motives of this quote state some thing such as, "What the Bible potential by utilising 'jealous' is that each and every thing belongs to God so he merits our love because is his." How can it belong to god whilst we created him? we are no longer sinful and we are no longer in decide for of salvation via fact people have been in no way evil interior the 1st place." - here you insist that we created God. i do no longer think it incredibly is authentic in any respect. once you suspect that God created guy, you will see it in yet in any different case. attempt basically making that assumption, else you will no longer comprehend the logic. because it stands, you're mixing logic and, properly, of direction, that doesn't make experience.

I am shocked that Christian are willing to cast off the OT. I stand by it. I stand by the rights of peoples to fight for their homeland. I say that the wages of sin is death and any one who commits sin will be executed. That includes parents are supposed to kill unruly children, homosexuals are to be killed, adulterers are to be killed, Sound harsh.. Too bad thats the Law..
I praise God for sending Jesus into the world to take these terrible penilties on Himself so we don't have to suffer them. So in this life all sinners who wouldn't take His offer, who should be executed for there sin, will be after God's judgement... Jim

They are all ready to disavow any knowledge of Old Testament attrocities unless they want to use to justify their hatred of gay people or other religions.

By the way, Jesus told them not to stray from 'the law' (that would be the Old Testament laws of Yahweh) one iota.

For those who take their religion-any religion from the lineage of Abraham-literally, they can find this train of thought in their holy book.

I agree-the Inquisition and the Crusades were far worse than anything you will find today. Christianity has been horrible to the world.
