just because its red and swollen doesnt automatically mean infection. 1st that gun they use cant be properly sanitized. 2nd the posts they pierce you with are usually to short and put a lot of pressure on the piercing. 3rd stop using that ear care poison they gave you. mix 1/4 tsp sea salt (at the grocery store) w/ 8oz water and soak your ears for about 10min twice a day (and alcohol and peroxide will only dry it out not help it and ointments will trap bacteria and not allow the piercing to drain). 4th that is probably plated gold and not a good quality. do not take out the earrings until you go to a PROFESSIONAL (these girls are trained for a few hours thats it) and get some proper jewelry-if it IS infected it can be trapped causing an abcess. also tea tree oil is a wonderful antiseptic, you can get it from a pharmacy but dilute it down 1/2 water as it can be harsh to some people

Be sure that the piercing is infected, and you are not actually allergic to the jewelry.
Make sure that the piercing isn't just irritated. Irritation will make your piercing red, swollen, sore, and it will lymph (have "crusties" and seep) longer and more than normal. Infection will make it red around the piercing and relatively large area of surrounding tissue, sore at the site and inches away, and it will seep dark yellow to green pus. An infection is also usually warm to the touch.
Determine the cause of the infection. What did you use to clean the piercing? Did you wash your hands? How often are you cleaning your piercing? Once you have determined the cause, you can usually make the changes and it should heal.
Mix 1 cup hot, distilled water and 1/8 teaspoon pure sea salt in a small cup. Immerse piercing in solution or dampen cotton wool or tissue with the solution and place on piercing. If using cotton wool or tissue make sure it is sterile! Also, use moderate pressure against the piercing with the wool, even if it may feel hot and uncomfortable. Do this once a day. Do not make the solution stronger - it will only irritate it and slow the healing process. Do not do it more often - this will also irritate it and slow the healing process. The piercing SHOULD drain during and after, no matter how gross it is a good sign.
If the piercing does not begin to improve in a few days, go back to your piercer and ask for more in-depth advice. Infections are very serious. Even if it is just an ear lobe. Don't fool yourself - if it is infected then apparently the LITHA (leave it the hell alone) method doesn't work for you and it won't heal itself.
Infections are serious. You can loose body parts if left untreated. If it spreads to your blood stream you could die. Go see a doctor the minute that your muscles become sore, your glands are swollen, or you get red streaks.
If you cannot see part of the jewelry anymore go directly to a piercer.
Do NOT remove the jewelry - it is the only way that all the pus is going to be able to drain. If you take it out then the infection will be trapped in your body.

DO NOT TAKE THE EARING OUT!!
If there is an infection it will seal it inside as the hole closes up again.
I doubt it is a reaction to the white gold but you never know.
Also you should not use soap and don't overdo the cleaning.
Wait a few days and if it's still like that go to the place where you got it done or the doctors. Ear piercings are commonly red and sore and ooze a bit and every piercing is different so it doesn't matter that your other piercing never reacted this way.
Don't worry about it too much it isn't necessarily infected but if in doubt see a doctor or phone up clares for their advice.

Hi, listen peroxide is generally not a good thing to use on piercings. It bubbles, doesn't kill germs, a lot of people think that it does. (It is best used to bubble out dirt in wounds and scrapes, etc.) Good old rubbing alcohol is what most of my piercing experts recommend. They also say to move the earring back and forth in the hole so that the stem of the earring gets wet. If your earring is really white gold it should be okay unless clairs pulled a fast one and gave you a cheap imitation one. Maybe you should call them so they can reassure you. Good luck, I had this happen with a brow piercing, and so did a lot of friends, it even got pus in it, but i'm a tough cookie so i monitored it and just kept it clean. I know it hurts, but you can probably help it heal. Be careful to keep your hair pulled back from it and be careful when you are brushing or combing your hair, trust me i learned that on my brow ring, lol. Oh and don't put salves on it like neosporin or anything like that.

Could be the gold. Keep your hands off it as much as possible and wash them well before touching it. Whatever you do, don't remove the earring. If you remove the earring then the infection won't be able to drain and it could form an abcess which is really painful and gross.
I'd keep put polysporne on it and keep it clean and see if it got better. If it doesn't then you might need to visit your doctor.

remove the earing and continue using the ear care antiseptic. Replace the soap with salted water. If it doesn't get better, go to the doctor. And next time, if in doubt, use something that you know doesn't harm you

the problem might be your sleeping on it i had the same thing happen it hurt wicked bad but you can try a triple antibiodic and put it on the back of your ear with the ring still in what that will do is help the hole to heal around the ear ring faster and you should be fine if that diesnt work take it out

take the earing out, and put some achol on it, and bendryl. Don't put the earning back in. Let it heal. Yes you could be allergic to the white gold, but right now address the problem at hand. You can always get another hole put in.

clean it as often as you can with alcohol, and be sure to turn the earring; you're probably right, you may have an allergy to the type of earring. all of my piercings have been infected at some point, but they're fine now.
