ok i looked at the terms for it. my ss stops when i grad. high school so it stops when i am 19 years old. my sister handles it now she has a kid no job boyfriend no job i think i can do this by my self and my sister is telling me i cant can i get a reasonable answer on this please this is my life .. not a joke

It's a Federal program it does not vary state to state. I can't believe how uninformed people are. High school graduation or 18 whichever comes last is when the checks stop.

If u r 18 then it should come to u and as long as u stay in school u will continue to recieve it. that should include college full time! If u think ur sis is mismanagin ur funds u can go to ur nearest ss office and tell them whats up and they will help u. U r responsible enough at 16 or 17 yrs if I remember correctly and they will want some proof from her that this $ is for U and not her and her looooosssserrr bf!!! Good Luck Girl!

I think if the benefits keep on going until you get out of high school, you would be able to get the money yourself now that you are 18. Does the check come in your name? There is usually an 800 # in the phone book for SS. It is different for each state I believe. Give them a call.

As long as your still in high school yes. You can also continue to receive the benefits if your a full time college student up to the age of 23. Contact the social security administration at www.ssa.gov for further info.

Is your sister considered your legal guardian? If she is you need to talk to another adult that you trust and let them know what is going on. You should have plenty of money to get what you need. The money isn't for her to live off of it is for you. If you are 18 you should be able to move out on your own.

Go down to your local SS office, with all the info that you have.
(PROOF of name and SS # should be enough) They will answer any questions you may have.
