As long as you have people who are too lazy to work and support themselves, and can get funds at gunpoint, or selling illegal drugs, you will always have a high crime rate, regardless of where you live. People are the same in all areas of the world. Most are good people, but you also got this group of recidivist criminals.

I think we have a better system of reporting crime and so it makes it seem that we have more crime today, when in reality things are getting better.

yes i think there is 2 much crime but that is down to goverment policy and parents not being strict enough with there children .the pc brigadge has gone mad in this country

I think the media is more likely to report the bad news before the good stories. Please remember there are still good people and good stories in world. Unfortunately, it's just that the crime stories get the spotlight more often.

appears like the guy asking those questions desires to look at apartheid for each and all of the excuses why undesirable issues take place in SA. You sound in basic terms like the black government! look interior the the remainder of Africa how plenty crime, HIV and corruption there are. None of them had apartheid! the only similarity is that each and all of the African countries have black governments. possibly you may initiate finding there rather of attempting to tie it lower back to apartheid...
