I've had 2 friends get these, and they both had the same kind of experience with them. They hurt BAD when your first get it on, and you can't eat anything solid for a while. The thing has to be expanded by turning a screw in it, and every time that is done, it hurts. The results of it are really quick though, so it's not something you have to have for a long time.

My son had to have the same thing done to his mouth. He said it was uncomfortable and took some getting use to. The expander requires that someone rotate a small bar ( there is a small hole in the center) one revolution per day. I did this for my son before dinner every night. We did this faithfully for several weeks. The orthodontist removed the bar and then added the braces for the task of lining up the teeth. My son now has a beautiful smile.....I only wish he would use it more.

I'm sure it feels pretty weird for awhile but the pay-off is at the end. Just know you aren't the first one to have this done and you will get through it.

My 2 daughters both had them -- different kinds. They are a bit uncomfortable at first. Your tongue will get caught in them a little until you get used to having it in there. They do use a little screw to expand them on subsequent visits, but it is extremely small amounts at a time. A little tylenol or ibuprofen should ease the discomfort for the first day or two.

unquestionably, it relatively is comfortable. Braces harm way extra advantageous than the expander does whilst those cord get tightened. it relatively is purely a chew of bent cord linked with the aid of 2 brackets. The brakets purely in high-quality condition over your returned the teeth like braces and are very almost thoroughly invisible. This spreads your jaw out slowly so which you on no account notice. It on no account gets tightened from what i will keep in mind.

It hurts when you tighten them you will have to do it yourself. It is a metal piece that is mounted to your teeth and almost touches the roof of your mouth. It looks almost like a metal butterfly.
