I am in an interacial relationship, and we go to places like the mall and the grocery store and we are always getting strange looks from a lot of people. I wonder what they are thinking in their minds when looking at us. So I ask what do you as a person in society think of inter-racial couples. We are a black and white couple!

It's the only way that barriers will be broken..eventually. Where I live it is such a non-event. People in the community don't think twice.

I admit I look at families when children are involved. I am just really interested in how the genetics work out and wonder, in this racially charged society (racial profiling etc.), how the kids will identify racially. It takes good parents who have thought this out well.

Staring is not okay and the people who do it to you as a couple are rude and out of line. Call them on it.

A long time ago, a black woman I know talked about the sexualization of black women (and black men) as a form of racism. I came to understand that the sexual curiosity and comparisons are indeed a form of racism.

I am a "product" of a black and white couple. It has caused me problems because I don't even know the white side of my family at all. The kicker about it all is that I don't even really look mixed!! People think I am Hispanic or something. It can definitely be hard for the kids, but as long as you love each other don't worry about what people think or how they look at you. They don't live your life and only YOU can make yourself happy. If that means being with someone who is not your race-go for it. Don't let anyone or anything keep you from the happiness you deserve. Life is short!

There is nothing wrong with an interacial relationship. If you really like or love this person you shouldnt care what people think.

I think it works both ways. I am married to a girl of a different race and dont think anything of it. Obviously I'm not the least bit suprised or 'horrified' to see other mixed couples.

However, I have noticed that different race couples seem to stare at other people, including me, hoping to get a reaction.
Its like they get upset if they DONT get attention.
Of course I dont bat an eyelid, best thing to do!!! HaHaHa.

Well, people tend to judge too easily. And gossip too. I like inter-racial couples, there is nothing wrong with them. I in fact want to marry a Japanese guy (I am Greek). So, just let them stare...

You know they could be curious. Wondering why a cute black guy is hauling around a fat white chick with an a$s the size of a buick. Makes me wonder why he would settle for that when he could do so much better.

Or the other cureosity, about his size? you know rumor has it that every black guy is bigger than the biggest white guy. I know it isn't true but hey, that's the rumor and it's in your favor. so go for it.

Its not the 1800's anymore it is a free country and you can do anything you want. If you love him and he loves you dont worry about it. Good luck with the relationship.

I think it's OK. As long as both partners respect, esteem, and love each other, it does not matter in the least what race they are from. Never mind the looks, just hang on. And good luck!
