There are tons of things a person in your position can do... 1st Prayer... 2nd Encourage others to pray... 3rd be a decent neighbor --> share your town and hospitality with those that serve 4. Encourage others to be decent neighbors. Chances are even if you don't have any that live in your immediate neighborhood your parishioners or congregation, or what ever you call your flock (The church I grew up in was more of a gaggle) do. Invite them to dinner, especially the young single ones... whose families are elsewhere. Contact the ministry team on base and find out what sort of needs the people on post have... perhaps there is something your community could do to help with that sort of thing. I agree, don't be pushy about church attendance... absolutely invite them to church, temple or whatever but don't be pushy...

Dont become politically involved with anything you are told by the servicemen. Obviously, you'll have guys who want to go and those who dont. As much as one might be against the war and its rationale behind going there, leave that to the government to figure out. Pray with and for our troops, listen to them, pay attention to what they are saying. These are young men and women. Many of whom are fresh out of high school, not even old enough to drink, yet they are old enough to die in combat. Pray for and with the warrior, not the war. Like an old Vietnam addage I recall seeing when I was a teen, "Forget the war, not the warrior". Thats the best advice I can give you my friend.

Contact the base MWR (morale welfare and recreaton dept.) they can help you with any suggestions. You could also contact the Chaplians office as they would be of assistance as well. Please do not force religion any the service people though, you will find that the sheep that need shepards will come forward if you do not pressure them to.

Call up the local Chapel on the base and talk to the Chaplain there...multiple chaplains are there for many faiths. All you have to do is call them.

please check the link for more information on the chaplains in the USAF.
