Can anyone who believes just about any abysmal thing call themselves Christians or what... Is it just a matter of saying I am Christian and then you can go on to say you hate these people and those people etc etc or whatever you want.

A Christian is someone who believes in Christ.
And NO! all these people are not Christian and profess to it.

Assuming one believes in God this is what is taught:
noone but God can know whether someone is a Christian or not. Many say things, but what they actually do can contradict their claims. Some may do bad things, but in their heart they have repented and actually do love God. that is all that He sees, and he is the only one who can truely see someone's heart. If you believe Jesus is God's son, and was sent here to die for our sins, that he is our saviour, If you love god with your whole heart, all your soul and all your strength then you would be a Christian.
I could not say whether someone was Christian or not. I may have a personal opinion that what someone may say or do is not very Christian-like, but that doesn't mean they cannot be Christian...only God could say that.
It does make me sad when I see comments that some acclaimed Christians make that would give others a totally wrong image of the Christian faith.
But these are all my persinal feelings, they do not reflect all of Christians. I hope everyone understands that comments made by other Christians are also not reflective of the whole Christian community.

First of all, in answer to an answer posted.....You are NOT a Christian just because you believe in Christ. You have to accept Jesus and know he died for your sins because you cannot earn heaven.
I would have considered your question insulting except the word "dingbat" always makes me laugh. lol

Unfortunately, all sorts from ignoramuses to the very intelligent claim the name of Christian. It seems that quite a few of the former and very few of the latter spend much time here.

I'm a Christian, although I don't come on here very often and the people on here are part of why. I am also not perfect, no one is.
