Okay, so it can potentially feel transcendental and GREAT, but let's be honest here don't most of us mistakenly take Lust and Neediness for Love?

Cornflake_Girl - If you weren’t an E.T. I would be totally infatuated with you and your gorgeous mind in a most endorphin-like way! Great Answer! ;-)

P.S. Then again, come to think of it, those big dark eyes can be hypnotically infatuating. :-) :-)

Jared R - I agree with you; It's all about Time.

Low, I’ve been asking myself similar questions recently….

This is what I’m trying hard to convince myself is the correct response:

Absolutely! Whims are tricky and they can masquerade as much more, but in the end, they are just lust, need, and endorphin-inspired whims.

It’s a merciful interpretation. Why should anyone feel sorrow at the end of a whim? What’s to mourn about a whim’s loss?

The severing of love, however, leaves a lasting and palpable spiritual wound.

So, here’s hoping I can eventually make myself believe the above answer is true.

Edit:
Though, I doubt I'd ever be able to confuse true love with a whim... I really don't want to devalue my genuine feelings or lose something so rare and precious.

my turn to sermonize. carnal love (sex) should be the result of a good relationship, not the start of a bad one. no matter what society tries to foist off on us in the way of morals, and they come at you from all directions, there is nothing whimsical about it. it feels so good that we forget that the point of the whole thing is procreation.....i read somewhere that God invented love so that humans wouldn't realize just how messy the process of procreation really is! lol i'm old so i can say without a doubt that we should start with love and build from there. that "whim" stuff can get you in big trouble!! and watch out for those back rubs too! lol

Thanks to the media, yes. It's warping society (and no, that's not just the parnoia kicking in as I sit here in my tinfoil underwear).

I was told that love is commitment and sacrifice. And for me, I wouldn't sacrifice my time and energy (or money) for someone I didn't love. (ie. having kids and a family and putting up with their crap.)

The whole butterfly feeling, often mistaken for love is known as infatuation. This wears off after awhile, hence it isn't really love. It's just a chemical sensation released by the brain. I like to think of them as endorphines.

=) Yup. So have fun or whatever.

well yes....most people do...that's why it feels great at the beginning and during it...but towards the end it loses it's intimacy....the biggest way to tell if it's love or lust is time....time will tell.....time will show feelings...emotions....and will help

i guess people confuse the two because they convince themselves that what they have is love...when really they just want to sleep with the girl of their dreams and try to convince themselves it's ok by saying it's love...it happens all the time...but soon enough they realize that they were wrong and move on...it's all about time.....

And yet without it we cannot procreate. I don't believe sex is a sin or bad as long as it is between 2 consensual adults!
