You'll need a building permit, you'll need to insulate the walls and roof, and your car insurance may go up if the car is no longer parked in a garage.

Those are just a few things to think about.

Depending on what area of the country you live in, you might regret parking your vehicle outdoors. Also, think about the re-sale. Will you be able to get your money back out? What are the other homes in your area like, garage, no garage?????? Did you buy the house because of the garage? I will not purchase a home without a garage, it is a plus in my book.

We put up a two stall at the end of our driveway and converted the garage into more kitchen space and a spare room. We love it because my man can't live without a garage but it worked great and added more value to our home!!!

Sounds like a fun idea. Have not done it, but seen hany houses that have. Just think about heating the space for year round use and perhaps adding a window or two . Happy remodeling!

there's one thing to consider that's not related to your own enjoyment. do you intend to sell in the next five years or so? it is very hard to resell a house which lacks a garage, in most markets.

I've always agreed with Frank Lloyd Wright that garages are silly things.
