Yes, you would be right if there were such a thing as a God.

This one has been asked so many times. It is a good one. Did God make Katrina happen? Can you really know that? How about what we do to the Earth on a daily basis. It certainly changes the weather.

As far as starvation, disease and poverty. We get to do something about it. We are responsible for what goes on, on this planet. We don't need to know why.

I believe we are in the middle of a 3 part play. Life is really quite short. If you don't believe in an afterlife it can seem quite terrible. I feel bad for people that literally think when someone dies, they are totally gone. That is the saddest thing.

If you really want to know the answer to something like this, you will find it. Life is not as cruel as it appears.

Yeah... If you're TRULY seeking a more BALANCED perspective or sensibility, this is it: surely you don't believe you're the only one who's ever had these sentiments... It's all-too-common to place blame on your God will putting none of the culpability unto the human species, collectively speaking: people die of STARVATION because those with the more-than-ample production (& acumen), do not share subsantially enough - beyond tokenism.... we claim to be an empathetic species, but we are somatically numb! Do you really think most give a Royal flippin' fart about the plight of others around the globe beyond the "lip-service" exchanged at the kitchen table? Do you? DISEASE is just "avoidable" (and curable) on so many levels IFF we are truly "connected" to the Almighty, and the same goes for any & all "POVERTY." Our own induced global warming may a larger contributor to many of the global DISASTERS, than anything God may chose to test us with... Make no mistake, life is NOT one big "dress rehersal," and this IS a "CLASSROOM"... not meant as some indefinately timed "pleasure cruise." We're here to be tested and grow spiritually by going beyond ourselves and our own petty, self-absorbed existences... and that's the real truth of it. Be VERY slow to BLAME GOD... ask yourself just what has humanity done to service it's members... have we really been all that "diligent?" I DON'T THINK SO! Did God start the wars? Be friggin' HONEST! In fact, sociologically & geo-politically , we are STILL a pathetic species...

I would not be surprized if we're a bit of a "standing cosmic joke" in the rest of the universe; "Hey, how many humans does it take to screw in a light bulb?" PUNCHLINE: - "Oh, just one can screw in a lightbulb... but just try to get one to go off in their puny little pointed heads!" [great guffaws from all the aliens] Catch my drift? Get it? Got it? GOOD! Now go back and play with your crayons!

REMINDER: Individually & Collectively, We ARE our "own worst enemies!" Never forget that, or you are lying to yourself!

I love it, some jamoke says "free will." Really? I can hardly wait for the day when events come together of which we have little no on control over ... obviously the man who answered that has never seen the real force of chaos.

We, collectively, create God from the combined concepts which we have communally decided were Good for the survival of the community. If there is a supreme being out there, she/he is not found in the pages of a work which was codified to set a standard of what is good for a civil order. If one actually reads the bible without the interference of the priest class, this become obvious.

The real God/Goddess is found in the heart, and in the world around us, loving or otherwise.

It's a question that many disenchanted humans have asked for a long time. I actually look at the word "God" or "god" as being a trap. When we ask somebody to describe God they have a difficult time, and those who don't are either highly developed or rather simple and superficial. I personally view God as being an all encompassing thing. It is not separate from anything. God is within the trees outside, the sky above, the flies on ****, the power in a gigantic storm, the laughter of children playing, the cars on the street and all of their drivers...everything. I don't claim to say that God created anything because all it is possible for me to see is happening presently. So in such a case it is also in myself and yourself...it is something that we share as being a part of the whole. If one can truly come to that singularity...it reality, then perhaps we can begin discussing the nature of God, until then it is just meaningless gesticulation.

Again this same tired question. Why do millions starve, because the people with resources does not attempt to help these people. They sit in their homes with their holier than thou attitude and say why does God allow this. There are disasters like Katrina simply because men are silly enough to build their homes in the paths that are known to have storms that are huge. It is like being told there is a fault here don't build your house here, there is going to be an earthquake. Oh but I love it here. The earthquake comes, destroys all of the homes, Why didn''t God do something? More like stupidity on the part of mankind I would think. An all loving God and an all stupid Mankind.

Since God is all powerful and all knowing, how can you presume to understand God's motives in how the world works? Is it not possible that a good life lived in poverty might have more value to God than an indifferent life lived in wealth?

When you give a baby a bath, it cries and struggles. The parent, however, knows that the bath is necessary for the baby's health and well-being.

As always, free will is the best they can come up with.

This is an old thought experiment from my philosophy book. I can't take credit for it. Imagine a family of deer in a forest miles from any human habitation. No one even knows they exist. Lightning strikes a tree, starting a forest fire, and the deer die horrible, painful deaths.

Now what purpose did that serve. It had nothing to do with humans and their supposed free will. The deer didn't choose evil. No human learned a lesson. And none of that crap about being unable to bend natural laws. What do you think the miracles in your bible did.

I feel God doesn't go against his own Laws of Nature. But as far as starvation and the rest, God tries to put the answers out there to end all of that, but it is up to those of us on earth to take eliminate those. Why else would He have included "Free Will" in our make-up?
How else can you explain finding an outrageously expensive, well-outfitted church in the middle of extreme poverty?

Oh, the basic answer is "we have free will." But God created free will, thereby creating all the bad in the world. More over, God has the power to stop it all and yet does nothing? Which would you prefer to have - free will or food to eat? Free will or a safe home to live in? Free will or no murder?

I say, if you're not a part of the solution, you're part of the problem. God is clearly part of the problem.

You are still alive so it shows he's merciful. There has always been trials and tribulations, starvation, disease and poverty is just a few of them. this world is not here to be easy, Jesus himself didn't have an easy life. Count your blessings and pray for the rest.
