I think Japanese. The high end Japanese models give the German ones a run for their money.

I hate to be the one to say this but the japanese have the best once, and the reason I hate to say it is because I drive a mercedes. If you compare all the cars from all three the japanese are the best. they have almost the same price as the american and are a lot better, and they have a lot lower price then germen cars but don't have all the things as the german car do. and the german cars last a little longer then japanese but for the difference in money, japanese are better.

Actually, some of Americas cars rate with the best in the world in owner satisfaction. Buick owners rated their cars at the same level as Honda, and both were only rated one point lower than Toyota, which was at the top of the scale.
Overall, there are still some differences between vehicles, but it seems as though people are happier with their cars than they've ever been, and the gap between best and worst cars is narrowing.
Volvo is not German.

From a quality standpoint, US manufacturers have truly closed the previous gap with the Japanese, and in recent surveys, do much better than Euro manufacturers.
The best way to compare quality is to research with consumers Report.

German, great engineering that has high power and durability. Including the reasonably priced cars such as the Volvo S60, but the real appeal is in cars like the M3 which is fast, luxurious, and not so expensive that you are just teasing yourself with dreams.
