Yeah, it sounds like appeasement to me too. You hit the nail on the head. If the Lebanese were smart, they would realize that they could have real peace if Hezbollah was not there.

Israel rushed into this cease fire without even getting the soldiers that the war started over, not because it thinks this cease fire will lead to peace! But because it wasn't expecting the strength of Hezbollah, it didn't expect to give so many casualties, it lost control and started bombing UN peace keepers and hospitals in frustration. I think Israel had no choice, it wanted a cease fire, it was loosing the war and the world support for killing so many civilians, it was in shock and the cease fire could buy it time! At least that's what it think! I think Hezbollah knows Israel is in shock and it realizes this is a strategic cease fire! As soon as Israel organizes, gets more aid from America and maybe more intelligence and info about Hezbollah, it will strike at again! I think Hezbollah is smarter than Israel and might break the cease fire first and Hit Israel whilst its still in shock.

Anytime the French get involved You will find a big snow job and no results. They must be making big bucks off Iran. I think the hookers on the streets in Paris have more respect than the politicians there.
The UN has once again show how useless it is. The big joke is that the US will have to pay most of the cost for the French troops to party with Hezbollah while Iran sends in more weapons.

Obviously the 1991 cease fire between coalition forces and Iraq meant nothing. To a radical extremist, a formal cease fire between a sovereign nation and an government sponsored armed militia means absolutely nothing.

If there is any chance for as lasting peace, the cease fire stops hostilities and gives both sides a chance to cool, off and negotiate.

The cease fire is great for the enemy.. It allows them to re-organize.. that is the first thing and most important to the enemy. It allows the enemy to replentish their arms so they can attack again at a later date.

A cease fire stops the Isreali's from murdering Lebanese children. But of course dead brown children mean nothing to the faux Xtians, neo-cons and isreali firsters who run US foreign policy.

Simple minded appeasement .
Within a year Hezbullah will start shooting and this time they'll have U.N. peacekeepers to hide behind .
