My deputy and I eat them as crudîtes often, but our editorial co-ordinator keeps telling us we're freaks.

So, I'm looking for some intelligent answers, mainly so we can shut her up and get on with enjoying our healthy snacks.

I have eaten broccoli and cauliflower cooked and raw all of my life. When I have company over and put out snacks I always have a tray of raw vegetables and ranch or cheese dip. Seems to disappear faster than chips and salsa. Also an excellent source of fiber.

I am said Editorial Co-ordinator. Is it normal to eat electric cables? Is it normal to eat pens? Is it normal to eat raw cauliflower and broccoli? No. Clearly no. The fact that they taste nice cooked is pretty good evidence against. In answer to some of the replies from the yoghurt knitters: You could eat a human being raw, and it would contain lots of lovely, healthy NUTRIENTS. Is that a good reason for eating a HB? NO! To anybody who thinks it's normal for someone to be sitting across the desk chomping on raw c/b go and carve wooden folk in the rainforest wearing your kaftans, and stop worrying us normal people.

It's perfectly normal. They actually serve vege platters in the grocery store with raw carrots, celery, cauliflower and broccoli with some sort of ranch dressing. Tell your editorial co-ordinator to mind his/her own business.

Eating these veggies and others raw is not freaky at all and very common. They are especially good if you have something on the order of a cheese, onion, garlic or other kind of dip for you to even add more flavors to the raw vegetables. And, eating raw veggies is very healthy as you have not lost any nutrients through any cooking process.

Vegetable platters occasionally has cauliflower or broccoli on it so it can be a "freak" thing. Perhaps the editorial coordinator just doesn't like either cauliflower or broccoli raw so he/she just keeps calling you "freaks". I eat them raw as well so...

Tell your editoral co-ordinator she's the one that's a freak. Eating them raw is healthier because you aren't cooking all the vitamins out. When she makes her comment, ask her "did we ask your opinion"?! : ) But seriously, let her know she needs to do her homework and find out that it is much healthier to eat them raw. She is obviously not a very informed person.

Raw broccoli is an acquired taste, but there's no better way to suck every last vitamin and mineral out of it.

So long as you rinse the pesticides and sand off it, you're good to go.

George Bush, the elder was noted for his dislike of broccoli. What better recommendation?

It is totally fine! I ate some raw broccoli for a snack just a few minutes ago! Let her eat her fried, fatty foods! You go, healthy people!

I hate cauliflower, but I LOVE broccoli, both steamed and raw. It's a little dry though, so sometimes I use dip. Yum.
