No. There are plenty of women who give birth without pain meds- and that's great that they are able to. But for the rest of us, there is alot to be said for epidurals. Don't let anyone tell you that you're a bad mother if you got pain meds. What's important is that YOU are comfortable with YOUR birthing experience. Some women need epidurals, some need calming music, some don't need anything at all. Just do whatever works for you, whatever gives you a positive memory of bringing a new life into this world.

No human being enjoys or is required to endure slight or intense pain. It does not make anyone weak to protest the need for pain. This is where pain killers may be called for. I personally don't use anything for minor headaches. Anything really painful, I talk with my doctor about it. If we have discussed the alternatives as to what medication is best, then I may or still may not take any medication. We are not human pain machines. People ought to stop that mess that a "real man" should not cry. I am a woman and a human being with feelings. We all put on our clothes with the use of our senses. We breathe, eat, talk, hear and have sensitive feelings. If we don't want pain, why should we accept it as we certainly don't have to do so. "The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation." Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

Definately not bad mothers. I had a natural birth and one with an epidural. Honestly, I dont know if I would chose another epidural. I was 4 centimeters when my nurse pretty much ordered it without asking me, and I had felt no pain yet. I could still feel pain on one side and when it came time to push it hurt a lot. It just depends on what we can handle. Every labor is different.

Hmm. When I was pregnant with my oldest, I mentioned to my mom that I planned to have an epidural- she was shocked. (She has had 7 kids, 9 pregnancies, one baby delivered by c-section, the rest naturally.) She said, "I never had meds with any of my babies. I guess I loved them too much." This is also what she said about morning sickness- that she never had any bc she loved her babies so much. That said, when my son was born, it was almost midnight Christmas Eve and the hospital was short-staffed- they could not give me an epidural. Instead they gave me meds IV. I half slept through the delivery, and it wasn't easy to push. I would doze for a few seconds, struggle to push for a few seconds. And the pain was there. With my second son, we got to the hospital too late and they said they could not give me meds IV like before- it was epidural or nothing. I had by then developed a fear of needles- IV was scary enough but I could not handle the idea of a needle in my spine- I said forget it. I had my boy with no meds, and there was no more pain than the first time around WITH meds. Third delivery- went in planning to go no meds. Baby girl was born once again with no more pain than when I had meds. They did have to give me anti-naseau meds because I was throwing up every 5 min...but no pain meds. So I say, no, you aren't a 'wimp' or whatever for having meds- but you might appreciate trying without it. You are more completely 'there' and as I say, for me the pain was no different.

Your a woman who took the help thats availbable to make a very difficult time easier.
I don't buy a word of all these people that want to do it with no pain relif at all. There are no medals or awards handed out at the end so you may as well make it as easy as you can on yourself!
I took dia-morphine when giving birth and it was enough for me but if I'd needed more I would have take it!

lol... humorous tale: i became in labour with my son for a whole of 40 seven hours, 14 of that have been intense. No drugs, basically organic labour, and he became posterior so I had some intense back soreness. additionally, i became on the drip (pitocin) which injury like a *&%#@! ultimately, I had a c-section, and there he became. 2 days after that, at a similar time as nevertheless in scientific institution recuperating, I had the main intense toothache I surely have ever had. The nurses theory i became placed up partum, the way i became continuously crying , I mean this became BAAAD. So undesirable I had to income myself out and characteristic emergency surgical operation on the the tooth day after in the present day. Out of the two studies, the toothache is taken into consideration one of which I want to in no way bump into back!!!! So I say toothache, and besides the undeniable fact that I in no way added vaginally, i'm specific that's what maximum different women will say too!

Neither one. I have never given birth so I don't know the pain first hand but I have miscarried and the pain of childbirth is said to be 10 times that pain. I had pain killers. If the pain relief was a serious danger to the baby they wouldn't give you that option.
Don't listen to anyone who told u that. They're just hatin.

Don't let anyone make you feel guilty. Pain meds don't make you less of a mother, I had them and I felt so much better. I could concentrate on the delivery. I applaud women for giving birth, with or without meds. No one gives out medals for doing it without pain relief, so do what is best for you.

no way. with my son I had no pain meds--it was the most horrible thing ever and I had a really long recovery time. With my daughter I got an epidural and it was wonderful. I didn't wear myself out as much and that helped me get off to a better start with my new baby girl. If I have any more kids I will definitely request an epidural
