Yeah, I take my 4 year old to the Dollar Tree and tell her she can pick our anything she wants. She loves it. She's been holding on to this ugly little stuffed rabbit we got there a few weeks ago. I think that simple toys are what kids really like.

My daughter's first christmas was this last christmas. i got her like 30 toys, she wanted the box my husdand's jeans was wraped in. we tried to take it from her and i thought the cops were going to be called she yelled so loud. i'm not sure why they like cheap things. i think this year we are getting her toys, but also going to wrap empty boxes!!

My son loves the matchbox cars, actually any car. It is amazing that they like the cheaper toys better. And wonderful of the pocketbook.

depend on what the child is interested in. When I was young I loved Pirate Lego's, Army men, Plastic guns. I always played with them.

Recycled paper from my office. Papers that go into the recyce bin come home with me from time to time when he needs a re-fill in his coloring bin.

We make paper airplanes, color and doodle, cut out bits and make confetti. All completely free.

A clothespin. Not the ones with the spring but one of the old ones you slide down onto the line with. She loves it.
