hmmm there are several types of gastric problems you can try these tips:

1. Avoid excess milk. If any of the following foods are increasing your symptoms or distress, decrease their consumption or avoid them altogether: caffeine (coffee, chocolate, colas, tea), fried or fatty food, alcohol and mint. Sometimes, symptoms may also be exacerbated by tomatoes, citrus fruit, other acidic food, and food that is highly spiced .

2. Avoid smoking; nicotine stimulates acid reflux in the esophagus.

3. Eat smaller meals, with occasional snacks if you must.

4. Avoid Aspirin and anti- inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen. If you need pain relief, try acetaminophen (Tylenol) instead.

5. Raise the head of your bed six inches or so by propping up the legs of the bed with blocks; this will reduce reflux problems while you sleep.

6. Avoid eating right before going to bed.

7. Avoid clothes that fit tightly around the waist or abdomen.

8. If you are overweight, try to lose a few pounds! Excess weight can put pressure on the stomach which increases the risk of reflux.

hope this will work else consult your doc.

Most of the answers are good and some are contradictory. I believe they are all based on their personal or some person closes by them, hence the contradiction. Each person is different and reacts differently to different foods.

Here is my experience:

If you can, do a one day fast, Drinking water only. I am hoping that you are seeing a doctor on regular basis and you are otherwise in good health.

Break this fast with lime/lemon water.

Stay on rice and yogurt diet for three days, nothing else. Yogurt must be Activia type, it must be non pasteurized (Indian home made Dehi/Curd).

Then for few days first eat rice and yogurt as first meal of the day and slowly introduce one item at a time. If discomforts occur you know what to blame.

Yogurt has good bacteria that repairs acid balance in the stomach.

In your case you must not lay down after eating, and you must allow 2 to 3 hours between eating and going to bed at night.

There are over the counter medicine that give instant relieve from gastric disorder. The most important thing for you to do is eat 5 or 6 times a day in small quantities, and keep some room for gases in the stomach to expand. Watch out for total calories intake. On line, go to Biomass index and find the calories level for your condition.

Once your stomach gets on the track, you can go to different routine.

Another thing you can do is to drink a glass of water (16oz) before sitting down to eat; this will dilute the acids in the stomach.

You are suppose to drink 1 gallon of liquid in a day most of it must be in the form of water.

PS:

Get a doctor rule out the reason for pain in chest and arm. This is serious even if it is only gastric related. It may mean that some how pressure from gasses in the stomach is pressing against major blood vessel that supplies blood to the heart muscles. This causes the heart to function at less then normal capacity.

I had a similar problem. Turned to be gallstones. If the pain is worse especially after eating something with fat, it may be that. If so, you must see a dr
