It is not the child of God trying to convert anybody, that would be fruitless. It is the Spirit of God, working through a willing vessel. It is the jobs of angles to prepare the people, by circumstance to get to the end of themselves. This is the place where God will send someone to you. Then the Holy Spirit does the Teaching, and attempts to bring back the lost sheep. The Holy Spirit will never violate your space. Yes there are Children of God that do not understand the process and they go out, ON THEIR OWN, and try to save people. It won't work. Now preaching in an open format is a different thing. What the Child of God is doing there, is proclaiming the TRUTH publicly. That too is under the unction of the Holy Spirit, or it will be fruitless also.
Love.

Altruistic, want to hep you get to heaven?
Just love have another convert's scalp on their belt? When men first wrote the bible it was a way of controlling the poor and the masses by promising them an afterlife by being meek and submissive, and an eternity of hell if they did not. As the Romans conquered they brought Christianity with them. They would attack the ancient religions followers and destroy their livelihoods, and convert them . In time the converts, with the Roman legions and Church would turn on their own people and the old ways were banished.

Governments have used Christianity and religions always as an effective tool to keep people in their place, or to fire up religious hatred and wars. Christian conversion is pie in the sky.

We do not. We are only trying to answer questtions about the truth of God. If we honestly tried to convert anyone. We would force people to convert or face death! True Christians actually love everyone and do not force anything on anyone. The history of brutality in Christianity(Crusades, Inquisition, etc.) was orchestrated by the Roman Catholic Church to give Christianity a bad name. Trust me. In no way, shape or form is THAT belief system Christian or of God! And finaly, we are here on this site to honesty answer questions for people who are searching for the truth of God. Pay close attention to t6hose who reppeatly post and answer questions on this site. You will see a patern of "fake" Christians and the tiny remnant of God. The "True Christians".

Because Jesus told us to go and spread the gospel.

But we so often think that WE are supposed to do the converting, while the truth is that only the Holy Spirit converts--we need only to gently nudge them in His direction.

This is the reason for so much prideful and angry proselyting among Christians, especially in this forum.

Christians with this attitude receive the persecution they so enjoy and so greatly deserve.

Christian are told not to convert people but Share the LOVE of GOD with people. Christian should be like farmer and plant the seed and water it, other then that the farmer has no other part in help a plant grow. The Plants growth like people believing JESUS is GOD job.

I don't wish to see anyone spend eternity in hell. God expects christians to be a light to the world. Not to mention the fact that to convert a sinner from his ways will hide a multitude of sin. We all sin everyday and fall short of the glory of God, so I need all the help I can get.

James 5:19-20 (King James Version)

19Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

It is called the "Great Commission". We are to spread the message to all the earth and maximize the opportunity for people to hear the message of Jesus' sacrifice. We are also told that if people don't want to hear it, wish them well anyway and keep moving. Some of the more zealous of us forget that part and I think that is why so many people are down on Christians.

Primarily because of this verse, "Go to all the nations and make disciples. Baptize them and teach them my commands."
- Matthew 28:16-20

In the original language of the bible, "proselyte" was someone who converted to Judaism. Today, proselytize means to convert other people to Christian beliefs; or to convert people to another point of view.

In the bible jesus says he wants christians to spread his word, some people believe this is by using your life as an example for others. some belieive it is done by converting others through other means(door to door, phone calls, tv are most of the annoying thing people complain about).

Well because there is a world out there that is going 2 Hell, and the people in the church are doing nothing about it. Jesus is real, and he sed in the bible, that we need to go out and make disiples of ALL the nations. But we need to show them christ in a kind way. And sometimes we need 2 heal them of a disease just 2 get there attention. God has used me in a very powerful way, to heal people and there sicknesses. Jesus is wanting us 2 be more like him. And i am wanting and being more like him everyday. :-) My God and the christians God. IS GOD
