Determine what type of exercise you would like to do. What are your goals, Muscle? Lean Body? Aerobic and stamina? Not all atheletes are built the same.

If you are out of shape now, break into a routine slowly! Don't be tricked into thinking lifting lots of weight is going to help you. Or that you should go run 10 miles tomorrow.

Start with something easy every day. When you get up, Stretch each of the major muscles. Feet, legs, arms, back, stomach. Do a few push-ups for your arm strength. After that you will be awake.

Add a routine that goes with your goals. Sounds like general health and strong body may be what you are after. You could walk 4 miles, take about an hour to do that the first time. Then slowly (10% max), increase the distance. Perhaps you like running - all the better. Be sure to have good shoes, start with 1 mile, increase 10% per week. Track your miles, time, speed, etc if you can. Generally, you should see improvements from one month to the next.

Don't forget stretching before and after your exercises (run, weights, walk, bike, etc.)

If you want to build strength in your muscles, do some weights. Some gyms have inexpensive memberships, and great resistance machines, bikes, treadmills, eliptical, etc.

Everything in moderation, but do it!

Join a fall sports league, drinks lots of water and eat healthier foods. When getting back in shape i like to start slow with a lite jog a couple times a week and doing situps and push ups and curls about 6 times a week. Strong Abs very important when starting to get back in shape after being out of it for a while

Start exercising...decide what parts of your body you want to change and focus on toning those muscles...walking is a good overall exercise and anything aerobic is good for your heart (need to get it going now and then)...

Start out doing something 30 mins several times a week and build up if you want...do what you are comfortable and have the time to do...

Bravo you for wanting to be more fit :)
