...they are contributing to the problems that plague their homelands by leaving? If they are so resourceful to go on a potentially expensive adventure, then why not use that resourcefulness by helping create businesses and prosperity in their home country?

It may seem unfair that some countries are rich and some are poor, but life in the USA wasn't always easy - their forefathers worked hard to give them their current life. They even had a civil war, and didn't inundate other nations with refugees then. Now it's the poor nations' turn to work for themselves to better themselves just like the USA did for itself.

Because they´re under the false impression that everything in the US is given on a silver platter. The way illegals are being given free medical care and schooling in some states, are we at all surprised? At the rates the coyotes are charging now to smuggle them across the border (up to $4,000), that would be enough money for them to start a small business in their own country and if they´ve saved up that much, they don´t need to leave in search for a "better life".

some countries aren't as educated as Americans. Mexico children go to school thru the 7th or 8th grade and then they help support the family. education in Mexico is not a priority to most families. They have no clue as to what is going on in their country because they do not understand. They come to america for a better education. it would be nice if they could use what they learned here and go back to Mexico and make it a better place, but i don't see that happening.

Well, in Mexico, the aliens are leaving because the system is corrupt, hindering the ability to create jobs, get a good education, and find opportunity. People leave Cuba, not because they can't find a job, but because they are afraid of the dictatorial powers of Castro.
Sometimes it's just easier to leave than overthrow the governemnt, which has arms, police, and a very nasty attitude if you fight the status quo.

I can't speak for all illegal immigrants but I do know that in Mexico many businesses are owned by the government. Such as the Electric companies, petroleum the drilling, refining, and selling.

Illegals aren't contributing to problems at home. Mexicans send huge amounts of money back to their families. Their government doesn't have to pay for their social security etc..
USA immigration one hundred years ago has nothing whatsoever to do with the situation in 2006.
I dislike illegals but your argument is very poor

Thats a good point i never thought of that, now all you immigrants that are reading this, take the advise and go back.
You annoy me soooooooooooooooo much.
You take our homes and jobs, no sorry in 99.9999999999% of cases you sign for benefits. don't think about our country or the people that live there nooooooooo that would be tooooo easy wouldn't it.
Let the homeless carry in being homeless, lets not think about them ay, let unemployed carry on, most of them only have family, with children to take care of.
But thats no biggy ay as long as you are ok why think about the country and the people you are hurting.

Yes you are right, they would help their country out by creating businesses there, but as is always the case, its easier to run away from a problem than to try and fix it. It would be very difficult to create prosperity in their own countries... its much easier said than done.

Of course easier said than done. How many people do you know that want to start a revolution and loose family members? They dont. So maybe you should go and look at what their home life is like, before you judge them.

i completely agree with you. your idea is excellent.

but immigrants want to find shortcuts. life is short and all of us hope to find happiness right in our life. so immigrants leave their country, enrich the USA and themselves.

this way of thinking is selfish, but realistic. anyway, i believe that their are many outstanding and commited citizens who want to enrich their nations right in their nations.
