That's a good quote. Thanks for that.
I try to focus only on the good in people. I believe that we must be selective in how we use our daily allotment of energy. I choose to utilize it in a positive fashion.

I believe there is good in all of us,people just choose to ignore the good and feel there is more excitement in the bad. There is really no bad people, just poor judgement in the world.Bad or good we are all the same no matter what color or creed we are all human and we are the one to be judged in the end. Theres an old song that pretty much speeks of society today"clean up your own back yard"meaning don't judge others until you take a long look at yourself.I dont judge anyone,I believe first impressions are keen, and giving anyone a chance is the best medicine for us all.

I find much that is "perrenial" in this saying- as likewise with:"My mother says vote for the one that will do the least harm"...
In our time "the virtues of democracy" seem very diminished .. for what was once "virtuous" was the ability to "listen" ..build consensuses ... unite people on shared values so that they could accomplish cooperative objectives ...
The virtue within the vice .. and the vice within the virtue .. are both a fact of human existence .. one can extend this to a good merciful heart within the poor and struggling who often have ease in extending charity even while they struggle themselves .. And then our leaders, who perhaps once were noble, yet all to often become blind and corrupt as their power grows ..
Yet a zealous voice for change .. that simply rails .. and doesn't build by recognizing "views" of the others is just a howling wind ...

Yes, that's an excellent quote.
Back in the fall of 2004 I did a presentation related to this. At one point I put up a slide with photographs of Thomas Jefferson, John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, and I pointed out to the audience that each was known to have done some clearly bad things. Then I challenged them: would you want to live in a world without their accomplishments?
In today's media-soaked environment we would have latched on to those evil deeds of Jefferson, Kennedy, and King, and used them to drive those people out of politics before they'd had a chance to do what they did for us. If talk radio had existed in Jefferson's day, we Americans would still be British. If it had existed in King's day, there would never have been a Civil Rights Act. And if it had existed in Kennedy's day, we might very well all have been killed in late October of 1962.

It is similar to a lesson I learned from an older student when I attended high school many years ago. He told me that in order to make a friend you must look at the good in the other person and the bad in yourself.
Likewise if we made ourselves better persons we would have a better world.
If we applied some of this simple philisophy in every day life we would all be better individuals in a better world.

Really tho i trust anyone and always see the good in someone,.. untill they show me differently!

Serendipity, ?, don't work for salvation though you my keep your self out way from the fire of hell, for a while long, such practices, don't follow God desires for man's, woman and peoples to become in his image. that is pretty much a Jewish point of view, to keep ignoring the true, that a materialistic way of thinking will not insure no ones salvation nor will buy a ticket to heaven, in the mean time they can keep killing innocents, because they don't understand that the Jewish money and materialistic true, has been declare a lie, just as the materialistic true U.S. has been able to establish in the World, since the protection to the Jewish state, will allow it. conveniently, because yes they are the elected race to own the World, although they don't know what the world will be went they take ownership of it, that is their problem and not of may own?

i totally agree
i love this quote
Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?
- Abraham Lincoln
i believe that inside each person is a wonderful soul ,
the bully who takes pleasure in hurting others , is often a troubled person with a sad home life, most likely been bullied by others that are supposed to have loved them
the thief is often a person with an illness or addiction
the
the liar is often a person with little confidence and love for themself
this isn't to say that we excuse the behaviour ... but see the person inside !

I agree with you and this quote, I try to look for the good in people, but it is hard when you are not seeing to much of the good. I guess even if I can not see the good in someone it is always there.

It's a good quote. The reason we look for the bad in others is mainly because that's what we've been trained to do. People have always found the bad in us, and we didn't forgive them for it, so now we're hurt and try to find the bad in others to try to help us feel better. But if we'll look for the good in ourselves, we'll start seeing the good in others and vice versa.

I think at an individual level, there is a lot of good in people. I think that people are too easily manipulated and lead, and that the people doing the majority of the leading are corrupt. Hence, the majority of man's action on a grand scale is negative, and that's what we tend to see.
