A reason for who? There are benefits to religious belief systems to have you adopt them. There very well may be benefits to you in adopting a religious belief system, and there may be benefits to society as a whole. It depends upon who you currently are, and also upon which belief system you adopt.

The world is probably better in general when certain people "find religion". I'd rather have a gang member or alcoholic or drug-abuser find religion than not. In general, it's probably safe to say that religion can serve to raise people "in the gutter" up to a better level, and so if you do have problems that are that serious, that would be an excellent reason to get a religion. Of course it's important which one you choose - it doesn't help society any if a religion turns you from a drug-abuser or gang member into an anti-abortion activist or a creationist.

If you already generally have your act together, it's probably not very helpful for you to get a religion. You may benefit from the social connections and the "perks" that society gives to the religious, but it won't help you to become a better person if you're already a reasonably decent person.

I have a religion because in times of great stress I can block everything out and pray a lot and it helps. Also because I grew up in a religion.

I am real careful about what church I go to as we move a lot and I know some churches teachings are not correct. Others are somewhat off. But some of the elders of some churches believe they have the right to do a lot of wrong things n the name of their church. Some church elders use the church for a cover up and are really bad people.

the biggest reason to accept religion is to believe in life after death... how many years are we going to leave... do u think death is incidental?? no my friend .. remember everthing is preplanned.. even before u are born.. every time u inhale air think that this may be ur last breadth.. then u will accept the existence of God...

I dont know about religion, but you should be aware of what Jesus did for you and maybe you can get closer to God !
I bet you dont understand the difference though, putting Jesus and "no religion" in the same sentence, do you ?

not if it isn't what you need in your life , what would be the point of joining a religion because someone else says yes you should
then you are only joining with the fear of reprisals if you don't
that isn't loving god .. that's fearing what may happen if you don't

you should have a religion if you want to have a religion.
religion is all based on your own faith and what YOU choose to believe in.
whether or not you believe in God and who God is, is your choice.
and i firmly believe we will all learn everything we've ever wanted to know when we die.
