I served aboard USS Lasalle AGF-3 1988-1990. stationed in Bahrain in persian gulf. I arrived aboard lasalle in japan the ship was in pieces stripped down for a thorough over haul. slept in a barge behind our ship the barge leaked when it rained.sailed to Philippines ship was lite no ammo or much supplies rolled big time i was very sea sick for a day finally got my sea legs pulled into Philippines and experienced every one of my juvenile sexual fantasies got to go back there someday. sailed for persian gulf crossed equator and became a shell back. entered persian gulf we were a white ship with antique guns except our anti-missile guns ciws . Got ascare when an Iranian in a boat came up to our ship waving his flag he then slapped the side of our ship with his hand and ran away brave bastard we were pointing ever hand held gun we had at him he was protesting the shooting down of iranian airliner by a us missile cruiser. We patroled in the middle of the gulf from time to time crawling with drifting mines and my ship had no sonar only a front lookout with a .50 cal machine gun. Soon after Iran and Iraq declared peace. Then my enlistment was up and I couldn't reenlist due to being 6% over body fat requirement ce la vie. Damn richard simmons and those like him GGGRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
