so my question is..
what do you think about apartment complexes?
who are they for?
how come nobody ever says APARTMENT TRASH?
they are just as trashy as some trailer parks if not trashier!!!

and how come those people aren't called racists when they say things about white trailer trash?

you ask ...what does this have to do with immigration ?? Illegal aliens live in trailer parks & apartment complexes.

It is just a 'stereotype'. Years ago most trailers were just that, trailers, single-wides with axles and wheels. The 'mobile homes manufactured today are as nice as a sight built house. The axles and wheels are removed. Many are underpinned with brick and have decks and prches built on them. They are extremely nice inside with anything any house would have. If a person keeps it clean and maintains it, it will last 30 years or more. I believe if people would go look at some of them they might have a different opinion. I worked for a mobile home sales center while going to college. Many wealthy professionals and actors have mobile homes at the beach or in the mountains.

There are some run down 'trailer' parks in the town where I live that have been overtaken by Hispanics. They even have a sign out front that refers to it as 'El Paso' and they welcome people from Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica. They are the old single wides and probably 30 to 40 years old and the park is trashy and rundown. When it gets that bad it is nothing BUT "trailer trash". They can't seem to put their garbage IN the trash can. Why is it the 'poor' live in such squalor? You don't have to be rich to have a clean house and yard. Of course there are those who are NOT considered 'poor' who live in filth and have trashy yards, also. There are always exceptions to any rule. Maybe the reason some people are 'poor' is because they are lazy, which is why they live in such filth.

There are lazy, filthy people who are not poor. And there are hardworking, clean, tidy poor people. Just ignore the ignorant stereotyping, it is just ignorance.

As a black guy, I have to say that the majority of the time that I hear the term "trailer trash", it is being spewed but a white person (Jay Leno, David Letterman, Rush Limbaugh, "the Daily Show, any NASCAR reference, to name a few). To be considered racist, it would first need to be used by one race against another. Since the people I name are of the same race, "racist" would not be a term used to describe them.

There are minorities that use the term, but "white trash" is a term that goes back to the antebellum south right after the emancipation. It really picked up steam when rich southern landowners needed to find a way to stop Blacks from voting that would not infringe on the poor whites (remember, at this time the South instituted the Poll Tax, the Literacy Test and Landownership as criteria to vote...this would stop many if not all poor white men from voting as well.). When the courts would not allow them to do so, many started labeling the poor whites as "poor white trash" because they were deemed to have less of a say in elections that freed slaves.

It is not a nice term to use (nor is the N-word, wet****, JAP or any other derogatory racial nickname). Just like the Black community wants to get rid of the N-word, it cannot be done until our own people stop using it so freely. So it is the same for the White community regarding the White Trash labels.

Trailer parks and apartments are not trash, its the people who live in them and choose to make it into trash. Illegal immigrants don't only live in those places, many live in actually very nice houses that they pay good money for, and spend good money keeping it nice. Not every illegal trashes things up, many are proud to make their homes and property look nice, others just can't afford it.

I have lived in a 8 bedroom house and a townhouse as well as several apartments during my 49 years of life and I must say that I was the happiest living in our 2 bedroom mobile home next to my best friend Linda in Newport News, Va..My husband passed away last year and before he died he moved our family to the country and a four bedroom house that I now rent..Oh, how I wish I had a time machine and could go back to that "trailer"in NN..I never realized how happy I was in that house..and yes it was a home..filled with love and respect and laughter..as long as you have that in your life it doesn't matter if you live in a cardboard box..I know some people who live in a multi-million dollar lean to and are miserable..The house is so big , the wife is so exhausted from her housekeeping chores that she told me she would give the house up tomorrow for a smaller place...
Where you live doesn't make you who you are..It is your actions, beliefs and how you treat others that makes you who you are and how you appear to others.
Some of the most wonderful people I have ever met didn't have a preverbial pot to pee in but where the most kind, giving, loving people that I ever knew..Big fancy houses and expensive cars don't make you better than a poor person..You are probably in hock up to your eyeballs trying to make payments and keep up with the Jonses...

I guess "apartment trash" is too long to say, so people usually say "the projects" when they´re talking about apartment complexes that are run-down. You´re right, this has nothing to do with illegal immigration.

Hey now. I live in a trailer and have my entire life. Most people, when they walk in here, the first words out of their mouth: "Wow, this is really nice!" A trailer is just a place to live. It doesn't matter what the size or shape of your home is, as long as it's a safe environment to live in.

Also, let me just set it straight: A trailer can easily be hooked up to a truck and moved. A mobile home cannot be easily moved. Most of them have to be moved by flatbed. And a double-wide can only be moved by cutting it in half.

Yeah, these damn hypocrites call everyone that's against illegal immigration a 'racist', but they seem to feel it's ok for THEM to use insults when talking about anti-illegals! Not only do they call people 'trailer trash" (and i have seen some really NICE trailers) they also call people 'redneck', (which is not really an insult, but the pro-criminals use it as one.)
Talk about lying hypocrites!

It depends if you really think you're trash. Personally I have wanted to live in a Winebago since I was little.

It doesnt matter as long as you keep it clean and you dont dress sloppily, have a job and a good role model for the community.
The people I know who have big houses, they are lonely..and miserable...they hardly see each other.

Is there a point to this rant? Trash is trash and it really doesn't matter where they live. How can I be called racist when I refer to trailer trash? I'm not saying, white, black, latino, I'm not pointing out a color, ethnic background or anything. Instead, this is a subculture within society that has nothing to do with color or ethnic background.
Quit trying to make everything racist or trying to jusify illegal immigrants. There is not justification for them.
