the endangered animal is probably endangered because of loss of the endangered plant
you do nothing to save them both, they probably need each other to survive

Shoot it so I can mount its head on my wall as a trophy. Think of how great that would be to get one of the last of a species! [just kidding]
Saving species just for the hell of it makes no sense to me. Since most of those are just minor offshoot variations of abundant and teeming species, and their difference has no great meaning in the world.
Now, preserving some species that have been hunted down for stupid stuff, like tigers whose bones are some precious elixir for Oriental men with tiny limp penises, is different and worthwhile.
