CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. It is a program that organizes relationships with customers, by having their contact information, and allows you to maintain history of any correspondence and interaction with the customer. It also allows forecasting and marketing tools to better sell you products/service to your customers.

My favorite CRM is GoldMine at http://www.frontrange.com

Other software CRMs are Act!, SalesLogix, and Maximizer.

You also have Web-based CRM, such as SalesForce.com.

A CRM is a powerful business tool, and I highly recommend it for any business.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a strategy for managing all your company’s relationships and interactions with your customers and potential customers. We use CRM because It helps you improve your profitability. It allows you to register your leads and contacts. You never know when a lead is ready to buy from you. You can track all customer interaction – from everyone in your company. Next time you talk to a customer or prospect, you get the upper hand when you know what that company is talking about.

A CRM is what's known as a Crap Rotation Machine. It's what most politicians, such as Tony Blair, use. They come out with some crap one day, then the same old crap the week after. It's also useful for big fat pieces of crap like John Prescott. He gets the sack from a job nearly every other week, gets a new one, gets sacked again. Same old crap.

Contact Relationship Management softwware- NOT HR software.
Its used in Sales and Marketing organizations to keep track of customers and prospects. Some examples are Goldmine and ACT, that track all of the contact activity ( including calls, emails, direct mails, etc) in order to provide better customer service, and prospect follow up.
Having a complete client record is the best way for companies to offer the best service. Software programs that allow for easy filing of pertinent documents are among the most efficient ways to manage a large prospect base.
