Before BSE and all that there were fewer regulations about dog food, so dog food was full of all sorts of rubbish including lots of bone.

Dogs don't need that much calcium so it would pass through their system, into their poo and as their poo dried it would turn white due to the large amount of calcium in there.

These days dog food has less bone, and more people pick their dog's poo up so it doesn't have a chance to dry on the street so there's a lot less white poo around.

If you feed dry processed food your dog's poo will be shades of brown.

On a raw food diet, poo is usually white, due to the calcium in the bones and egg shells.

Also, this makes it easier to clean up at night :])

DOG POO SHOULD BE THE SAME COLOUR AS THE DOGS FEED SHOULD BE PASSED EASILY, WITH NO FOREIGN BODIES IN IT IE WORMS, THE REASON YOU DONT SEE WHITE DOG POO ANY MORE IS BECAUSE THE DOG IS PROBABLY DEAD AS WHITE POO CAN BE A SIGN OF RENAL FAILURE.

It only goes white when it has been in the sun for ages. I guess people clean it up quicker these days
