When I was young, my friend told me, you have to be good in order for you to go to heaven. If you're bad, you'll go to hell. If you don't have that much sin, you will go to purgatory. Until now, it's still sticking in my mind. All I believe is God and I will go to heaven when it's my time.

Hell is mentioned at least two dozen times in the New Testament -- many of those times by Jesus Himself, and many of those times in vivid and clear detail.

Purgatory is also mentioned in the Bible. Jesus speaks of remaining in prison until the last penny of debt is paid, and 1 Peter mentions Jesus "preaching to the spirits in prison" after His death and before His resurrection.

This "prison" can't be heaven -- no preaching is needed there.

Nor can it be hell -- no preaching can help anyone there.

So this "prison" must be referring to a third place -- one which is temporary, since Jesus' preaching to the spirits in that prison implies that they will be "released" someday.

Heaven and hell are scriptural. Purgatory is a fabrication of the Catholic church. It provides grounds where the church can charge family members a fee to have their sinful dead relatives "prayed' out of purgatory and into heaven.

Now, being good, or doing lots of good deeds gets no one into heaven. The Bible tells us that the very best we can do is like a filthy rag thrown out in the trash. It is your relationship with God that determines heaven or hell for you.

There's heaven, hell and purgatory. Those who are saved ie. are without mortal sin when they die go either to heaven if they are totally pure, or to purgatory for a while to be cleansed from venial sin and when they are totally cleansed they enter heaven since they are saved. Those who die in unrepented mortal sin have forever turned their backs on God and suffer everlasting hell.

Yes, there is a hell, just like there is a heaven. There can not be one without the other. You can not have something good without there being something bad also. How do you know if something is good, unless there is something bad to compare it to? If there is a heaven (which I believe there is) then there has to be a hell. They're each dependent on the other to exist.

You are right, there is no hell or Purgatory. Unfortunately, there is no heaven either. Heaven and Hell are states of mind that exist on this earth.

Srimad Bhagavatam Mentions of 7 different Planetary Systems of Heaven and 7 different Planetary systems of Hell...
Heavens varying in the amount of Enjoyment and Power of the individual ...and hells varying in the amount of Suffering and the methods of Suffering...
You do good or Pious activity , you take next birth in Heavens to enjoy your Good Deeds.
You do bad or impious deeds, you take next birth in Hell to suffer you deeds.
But beyond these hells and Heavens is the Kingdom of God which is transcendental and full of Bliss, knowledge and eternity.
If you server God selflessly you go there .... Human life is a chance to attain that kingdom of God.

The bible speak of the eternal lake of fire as a literal place.
Luke 16:23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, `Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
Rev 14:10 ....He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever.

Read the actual verses, i just didnt want to post the whole chapters. You need to be aware of the truth of what God in His bible tells us.
Why did you think Jesus came to save us?
It was from the eternal lake of fire.
You will go to heaven or hell when it is his time not yours im afraid.
keep praying and seeking truth .... your getting there.

i don't believe in hell or purgatory
i believe in many realms of spirit and yes some of those are lower realms
but this isn't a place of eternal punishment but a place for those in need of more healing and spiritual development before they can progress to the next level so to speak

If that's what yout believe, then believe it. I think Catholics believe in purgatory, but I'm not too sure.

No, that's what the catholics believe.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart and admit to him that you are a sinner and ask forgiveness for your sins and let him know that you truly believe in him and trust in him, that is what it means to know where you are going when you die. But, you truly have to mean it and live a christian lifestyle and ask forgiveness for your sins. Everyone sins, but you have to confess to God and he will forgive you!
