Why is it that people don't smile as much as they used to? We should start smiling more at one another instead of frowning for no apparent reason. Personally, I hate it when people frown at me for no apparent reason. I give them a smiling gesture reminding people to smile. You're not better than anyone else, remember that. It's free. Who knows it may lead to something good on our behaves. It's like people are too busy in their minds to make a simple positive gesture to the rest of the people. Let's make it a epidemic, people!!

I understand where you are coming from. In the past I used to smile all the time. But as I get older I find that I smile less, am more irritable, get angry quicker, etc. So maybe people are not genuinely happy. Times are hard, stressful, shocking, appaling, etc. Do you watch the news? Do you read the paper? I believe at the time you see people they have so much on their minds and so little time to solve all their problems and complete goals that they do not feel like smiling. Perhaps they are just plain tired and depressed. This is sad but true. But I bet if you cracked a joke or spoke to them or maybe even gave them a compliment, then you would see more smiles.

I Agree with you, I keep on smiling while I am really upset about problems going around the world.
Smile give better moments, and take you out from any stress.
Smile as a common courtesy would be nice between people during their communications
smile is a free way to reduce having more wrinkles in the face.
Smiling is a free daily prescript on helping people look more bright and feel comfortable and more peaceful.

Fine, good for you! Smile away, it is infectious. But I do not really care for people who tell me to smile. I had a co-worker once, who constantly told people to smile. She was annoying. We were nurses, on a busy medical floor. It is not always appropriate to smile, when someone is very sick or dying, maybe in the next room.
Someday, when you make your little smile gesture, someone is going to tell you that they don't feel like smiling today, there mother, father, dog, best friend just died, or some similar sad story. You are going to feel bad about it. Smiling is good, gesturing can be rude, or inappropriate.
Godd luck with your smiling epidemic.

I smile a lot! Except when I keep hearing about how bad the world is today. People have probably been making that depressing comment since time began! The world is fine; life is good and we all have something to smile about!

I know! I love smiling and I always do too.
And I don't agree with people who says "don't you see what's going on in the world" Yeah we see but everyone has their opinions and things to do, Maybe we try to help the world to be a better place in some way that you are not aware of. Not smiling doesn't make the world a more beautiful place either! It's already bad so why don't you just try to cheer people up instead of them making you unhappy? :)

Thanks for sharing that.....I will certainly do just that.....also, you are (unfortunately) so right; most people aren't smilers today. I really think that it has a lot to do with the condition of the world in which we live. Now days the world is so morally corrupt, and violent, and people are always trying to take advantage of each other until it makes it very hard for people to trust each other. Maybe that's why there aren't a lot of smiles but I do agree that we have to start spreading the smiles; and as you say maybe they'll become contagious........

I suggest you stand on your head. After all, a frown is just a smile upside down. Why try to change the world when a solution is so easy LOL

I guess I don't like the feel of the world much anymore. Worries like how much is gasoline going to go up to, how is the prices of everyday needs going to rise because the energy prices are so high. My wages have not gone up. Housing has doubled since 2002. How can someone be happy if all you see is the rich making bookoo bux and we drones are stuck to such a crappy existance.
