Yes. I own a business and hire workers from the "pick-up point" all of the time. The illegal Hispanics are the best workers you can find and salt-of-the-Earth types. I pay them $15.00 - $20.00 an hour. (The alternative would be to pay somebody $8.00 an hour and the difference to the government and insurance companies.)
I admire anybody who would leave their family and familiar surroundings in order to try and make a better life for themselves. (My people did the same thing a couple of hundred years ago when they left Scotland for the U.S. I look at it as my opportunity to help others gain the same opportunities that my ancestors did for me.)
The U.S. was made great by bold acts of civil disobedience. I'm just following George Washington's lead. I don't know where this "it's a great honor to be able to pay taxes" mentality ever came from. The folks at the Boston Tea Party would look at those people like they're crazy.

How would one know?
Most housekeepers I know are ones who come a day a week or every other week, and are contracters, not employees. Looking back that may be because they are here illegally, but it is just as likely to be that when someone only has a person come periodically, they would rather bump up the price and not do the paperwork for withholding. I can't swear I haven't hired one that was here illegally, myself. It never occured to me that any of them might be, though. I really didn't think about this topic all that much before the marches.
I've never hired someone outside of a home depot, but I have called 'man and a truck' adds, and I guess they might have been illegals. Again, it never occured to me, at the time. I'll be more careful now.

This is more of a homelessness encounter than an illegal alien event.
Yes I have. More than once in fact. Both times the outcome was about the same but I especially remember the first occasion.
After seeing a man that looked to be in his late 20's or early 30's sitting on a corner holding a sign with something about 'will work for food' I turned around to go back to talk to him.
I own some rental property and had an apartment that was empty and in need of painting. It didn't take long for me to realize this guy wanted a handout, not a job.
I asked him if he knew how to paint, and when the last time was he had done any painting. He said of course he knew how to paint but before he answered the second question, he began to tell me he wasn't working for nothing and what the terms of his employ was going to be.
My plan was to start him at the minimum wage if he was motivated and did a good quality job and to increase his pay after a couple of days. In additional to painting several interior rooms I wanted to have the exterior painted. About two weeks of work is what I estimated.
We never even got that far. His attitude stunk. I got back into my car and painted the place myself. I could see why he was unemployed and homeless.
He got my to my sympathetic side but no job.

Yes absolutely, but then I live in a country with a lot of poor "legals" who would thank you for a chance at a meal and a few bucks. I feel good about giving someone a job who would starve otherwise.

No. If you can't take simple care of your own belongings, I believe you have too much. I'm not talking about tuning up your own car, or something like that. That is a learned skill. But painting or digging a hole? That's why God gave us muscles, and I'm not going to pay for something that I can do myself.
