No, it is not a sin, at least for Christians.

I was a Protestant, studied Islam and then decided to become a Catholic.

(Some Muslims might consider it a sin though)

Peace!

I've been studying different religions and the philosophy of religion for over 12 years now (I'm 24). I try first to understand a religion on the same terms as its adherents do, so that I am not judging based on any misconceptions. Then I consider the information I've gained and place it within the larger context of my knowledge and experience to decide what I think is useful and what is not. This process has led to become an agnostic atheist, but with an understanding and appreciation of both the positive and negative roles that religion can play in people's lives.

My mother would have said yes it is a sin but she was deep into her Catholicismand VERY old school. I, however, believe there is more than one truth and those who condemn others due to their different religious convictions are blinded by ignorance.

We should always be searching for more truth, my husband did, and found what he was looking for. And he has peace that passeth all understanding. When we find the religion that follows the Bible wholeheartedly, and not traditions and pagan ideas, then we know we have found Truth.

I studied a number of religions and philosophies and that led me to believe that deities are non-existent.

Not taking the time to understand other belief systems leads to ignorance.
