I've been teaching for a long time, but I finally maganed to teach 4 languages on the same day. Yesterday, my day started teaching advanced English to Spanish speakers; for 3 hours we could only speak English. After that, I went to tutor an Asian guy in Spanish. Then I gave my 3 hour advanced French class. Then, I went to teach Japanese at my 2 hour Japanese class.
When I got home I was just relaxing talking to my roommate, but he was laughing at me mumblnig and skippping words as I spoke. Apparently, an entire day of me thinking everything I said before I said it, made me all stuttery when I just wanted to relax and talk.

First of all, I THAT IS SO COOL!! That is really awesome. YOu don't suck, really. I took spanish while I was teaching myself Japanese, Polish and Thai. In one class, i accedantally said Yo quiero una hamberguesa por favor (we were practicing for the resteraunt trip) and added a "desu" (approximatly the verb "to be" in Japanese) to the end. My teacher looked at me like i was insane, but when I told her afer class about it she told me it was perfectly normal (but I should cut down on my languages)

I speak three languages and bits and pieces of another 5 and I can tell you that it does happen. Your brain gets wired on one language, and then when you skip to another, your brain has to do a 180 in order to adjust to another. I am really impressed because I've only specialized in teaching English as EFL and ESL. Currently I'm working at college level and believe, wires can get crossed after a tough day at work. Keep up the good work!!

It strikes me as weird, albeit impressive, that you would be competent to teach four different languages, two of them at an advanced level, and surprising that you would teach for 9 hours in a day. But that you'd be communicating less than successfully after such a day isn't odd at all.

I think you are running on empty by the end of the day. Can you try to relax or get some anti-anxiety meds? It might help you, even during your hectic day, check it out.

yeah. I speak two languages; yet, some people get offended when I speak Spanish in public. Go figure!

yes i guess that could have an effect cos your brain has been working all day translating other languages and so when you tried to speak without translating it was like ' what's going on here' i guess it got confused :)

that's funny, but totally understandable! I admire you for knowing so many languages! I'm still working on my second (Espanol). I'm doing good in that, though!
