Luke 12:49-53
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Matt 10:37
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Matt 19:29
And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

Matt 12:30
He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Luke 19:27
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Matt 13:40-42
As therefore the tares (weeds) are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

These are warnings, don't go awry from a straight path, they were needed to stress goodness as Jesus perceived it in an age when only a few could afford to be literate, and even fewer afford books. i think at that time there were even fewer books then there are computers today.

I am not a Christian, or a followers of one of the versions of the book.

He may have spoken that terrible things would occur but he didn't actually do anything but talk. I've read that some have questioned if he even existed. There's no first-hand account of him outside the NT...the only mention of him is by Josephus Flavius. There were four mentions-two had been proven to be later insertions and the other two are in question as to their reliability. None of the miracles he supposedly performed are in historical accounts before the 3rd or 4th century. So, I don't know that a figment of imagination can be self-absorbed. Regardless, as a representation, I think overall he set a good example but when people try to literalize, the contradictions show (obviously).

Three things are important when trying to understand God's Word--context, context, and you guessed it-context. You need to look at the verses around that verse in order to understand what is being said. Read each chapter that you listed above all the way through and then come back and ask this question again.

If Jesus wanted everyone to perish, He could have just stayed home.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Is it hateful and bloodthirsty to tell people that they are in danger, or is it kind and loving to give people a means to escape?

Jesus "Is who he Is" so he can say stuff like that. Remember God created the world. Second the reality here is if one doesn't believe then they are sided with the world and the devil hence obviously aren't with God. Third hell isn't a very enjoyable place I'd assume either.

Another act of selectively quoting the Bible out of context, and without regard to some of the metaphorical language used -- brought to us by yet another religion-basher in an attempt to discredit religion in order to validate his own beliefs and lifestyle.

Somebody wake me up when one of these religion-bashers comes up with a more original tactic.

Now I understand why the Muslims kill each other after reading the Quran. If you would twist and quote the bible word for word, you may well become a Christian terrorist...killing in the name of Jesus.

How would you feel if i had a record of a lot of the things that you have said in your entire life, and i put them all together. I could paint whatever picture i wanted to paint. It is the most biased approach to anything i have ever seen.

First and foremost Jesus is God, The Almighty One. Now as to your inability to effectively portray your stance on this issue, it is obvious that you have nothing to stand on since you have to bounce around from verse to verse, and take verse out of context to try and portray them to your own warped meaning. I will be praying for you.
