why do ppl not believe in GOD he is great and mighty. He is a father to the fatherless, he will pick you up when you fall down, he is your friend when you have none, he forgets when others do not, ...........................My King was born King. The Bible says He’s a Seven Way King. He’s the King of the Jews – that’s a racial King. He’s the King of Israel – that’s a National King. He’s the King of righteousness. He’s the King of the ages. He’s the King of Heaven. He’s the King of glory. He’s the King of kings and He is the Lord of lords. Now that’s my King. Well I wonder if you know Him. Do you know Him? Don’t try to mislead me. Do you know my King? David said the Heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament show His handiwork. My King is the only one whom there are no means of measure can define His limitless love. No far seeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shore of supplies. No barriers can hinder Him from pouring out His blessing. Well, well, He’s enduringly strong. He’s entirely sincere. He’s eternally steadfast. He’s immortally graceful. He’s imperially powerful. He’s impartially merciful. That’s my King. He’s God’s Son. He’s the sinner’s saviour. He’s the centrepiece of civilization. He stands alone in Himself. He’s august. He’s unique. He’s unparalleled. He’s unprecedented. He’s supreme. He’s pre-eminent. Well, He’s the loftiest idea in literature. He’s the highest personality in philosophy. He’s the supreme problem in high criticism. He’s the fundamental doctrine of proved theology. He’s the carnal necessity of spiritual religion. That’s my King. He’s the miracle of the age. He’s the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him. Well, He’s the only one able to supply all of our needs simultaneously. He supplies strength for the weak. He’s available for the tempted and the tried. He sympathizes and He saves. He’s strong God and He guides. He heals the sick. He cleanses the lepers. He forgives sinners. He discharged debtors. He delivers the captives. He defends the feeble. He blesses the young. He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent and He beautifies the meek. Do you know Him? Well, my King is the key of knowledge. He’s the wellspring of wisdom. He’s the doorway of deliverance. He’s the pathway of peace. He’s the roadway of righteousness. He’s the highway of holiness. He’s the gateway of glory. He’s the master of the mighty. He’s the captain of the conquerors. He’s the head of the heroes. He’s the leader of the legislatures. He’s the overseer of the overcomers. He’s the governor of governors. He’s the prince of princes. He’s the King of kings and He’s the Lord of lords. That’s my King. Yeah. Yeah. That’s my King. My King, yeah. His office is manifold. His promise is sure. His light is matchless. His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes. His Word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Well. I wish I could describe Him to you, but He’s indescribable. He’s indescribable. Yes. He’s incomprehensible. He’s invincible. He’s irresistible. I’m coming to tell you, the heavens of heavens cannot contain Him, let alone a man explaining Him. You can’t get Him out of your mind. You can’t get Him off of your hands. You can’t outlive Him and you can’t live without Him. Well, Pharisees couldn’t stand Him, but they found out they couldn’t stop Him. Pilot couldn’t find any fault in Him. The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree. Herod couldn’t kill Him. Death couldn’t handle Him and the grave couldn’t hold Him. That’s my King. Yeah. He always has been and He always will be. I’m talking about He had no predecessor and He’ll have no successor. There was nobody before Him and there’ll be nobody after Him. You can’t impeach Him and He’s not going to resign. That’s my King! That’s my King! Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Well, all the power belongs to my King. We’re around here talking about black power and white power and green power, but it’s God’s power. Thine is the power. Yeah. And the glory. We try to get prestige and honour and glory for ourselves, but the glory is all His. Yes. Thine is the Kingdom and the power and glory, forever and ever and ever and ever. How long is that? And ever and ever and ever and ever. And when you get through with all of the evers, then, Amen.

But the single strongest reason, I feel, for believing in God, comes from personal experience. (It also seems to be the only major reason (apart from social pressures or convenience) for changing religions.) Many people feel that God is watching out for them--they've discovered blessings in their lives because of keeping God's commandments, for example, or perhaps they've received powerful answers to prayers. They've heard voices of warning or had feelings of premonition, cautioning them against danger. They've had feelings of peace or happiness as they go to church or read the scriptures. Others have had other inexplicable, incommunicable "religious experiences". Some have even seen miracles, such as healing the sick or raising the dead. Some people experience miraculous visions, or have prophetic dreams. Perhaps words are given or ideas suddenly appear from an unknown source--a person says something or does something spectacular and admits that it felt as if "something (or someone) else" was working through him.

Such personal experiences are commonly found throughout the religious community. I've noticed myself that of the atheists I've known, most of them are atheists due to a complete lack of any such experiences or "evidences" of God's existence. Conversely, most of the strong theists I know have had many such experiences. Some rely almost wholly on the experiences of others, but even with such, they've experienced some little "evidences" of their own.

Perhaps the theists are just deluded or feigning these experiences. Perhaps the atheists have many such experiences but they choose to ignore them. Honestly, I don't really know. It seems likely to me that, truly, the theists do experience such things just as factually as the atheists don't.

But this brings up a very good question. Why not religion? Faced with this vast majority of theists, why not believe? What are potential problems with believing?

Fear plays a big part. Tradition another big part. The 'us against them' mentality. An egocentric personality believes in God, especially a God that created man in His image. Many like the 'fact' that they can always be 'right' because they can pull the 'god said it so it's so' gun on everyone who argues.

Positive reasons--a belief in God gives a human's life 'meaning'. Any 'rule and regulations' from a belief system give their lives structure.

These are but a few reasons people believe in God

I love the way you worded the Question.

Why do we believe IN God?
God is the only sure thing in everything there is.
I am not even sure I am real. I am not sure you are real and not some Yahoo Question Bot. But I know God is real.I speak with him every day. I surrendered my life totally to God many years ago and just gave up. God resurrected me and I have been happy and complete ever sense.
Why do we believe in anything?
Why do we believe in AIR?
We cant see it,

Initially gods were created to explain questions and forces that were mysteries. Later it was established in nearly every culture that there should be a god of some kind. Eventually the true God made himself known and the rest is, as they say, "history"!

People have to believe in something supernatural, that flies and lives for ever, punishing everyone around it, saving their souls and promising Edens: Mythology, the Roman gods, the Sun (the Sun Invictus from Rome) the Moon, Ra..... etc. etc. etc.
Man invented god for his own sake. It´s an inbreed need. Just that.
So simple.

Because we are His children. It does not matter which religion you choose, God is in your heart, mind and soul. He is the Alpha and the Omega (the beginning and the end) in this world of war, hate, strife and all things bad - God is our rock our very foundation. People are always wanting to put labels on things they cannot see - God is LOVE. Love is eternal, and His love never leaves your heart, if you truly ask He will answer.

Some people believe in the true GOD.Others believe in other dieties that exist. And they are in the millions. From men to idols. From those who are to be believed as incarnates and those that are not.You have to accept that you came from somewhere.Even if it be evolution. You still came from something.I for one do believe in GOD.And mine is the Lord GOD of Israel.Allah.And most believe HE does not exist. So they answer my inquiry for me.I believe in THE GOD that does not exist. The only GOD that is truly questioned to if HE/SHE/IT exists.Knowing is not the same as believing.People only tend to believe in what they know. But I believe in what I know not.And simply accept doctrines of TRUTH that people question to authenticity.People can believe that GOD does not exist, but the fact of the matter is "I exist".And I did not create myself. And if we were created by extra celestrial beings, who or what created them. And the chain continues to the same path to the same conclusion to the one unbelievable.I am far from being a christian and when most say GOD, they mean jesus. But he is not my lord.To the millions of lords that have and still do exist.Death is an inevitable promise for life. And I wait for my day.I for one believe in the creater of the sun, moon, heavens, universe, and EXISTANCE.The GOD of cause and effect. To which we suffer for.Till our release.PEACE!

First of all we should know the meaning of God. Humans who have destroyed their karma's achieve Infinite Knowledge, Infinite Perception, Infinite Power, and Infinite Bliss. They become Gods, or Jina, and as such will never suffer rebirth again. There is no Creator God, and Jinas do not manage the universe or humankind, which operates under its own laws (cosmic and karmic).
