We have home schooled for about 15 years and we have used Lifepacs. I like them but I think it would be a bit tiring to use Lifepacs for every subject. I think the Math is very good and other subjects like Science were also great but I would advise some variety if you are keeping track of your own records. ( If you are in a program with the company where they keep your records you will probably have to use all their materials) Otherwise, use Wordly Wise for vocabulary and read plenty of good books. There is so much good curriculum out there.... Hope this helps.

I am using lifepacs this year to home school my child. Before purchasing them from the Alpha Omega Publications' website you show check out the site where I purchased them. The site is pennywiselearning.com. I saved a whole bunch of money by purchasing them there. The lifepacs and even the shipping is much cheaper. I would recommend ordering a free catalog from AOP website to see the variety of curriculum they offer and what each can offer. Don't forget to check out pennywiselearning.com too so you can compare the prices. Well, I hope this helps you in someway.

I am using lifepacs for the first time this year. I have several friends that have used them and they were really pleased. I like the way they set up their high school history makes it very easy to follow a public school diploma program (I use an advance diploma program to map out my daughters curriculum each year) I do use different things for her science, math and language because we are in a teaching co-op and that's where she takes science and math, and I prefer writeshop and easy grammar for language art. But for my second grader, I use lifepacs across the board.
The thing my kiddos like best is that with the workbooks it divides the year into easy "bite size pieces" so to speak. They can focus on "just doing this book" (even though they do 10 for each subject) and it makes it more manageable and less overwhelming for them.
good luck!

I went to a small private school during fourth grade where we were self taught with Lifepacs. After 4 years of Abeka in other private schools I was B-O-R-E-D bored! They were well over a year behind the Abeka curriculum. If a child is new to homeschooling just having come out of public school I say go for it. If your child was struggling with Abeka either due to the pace of it or the repetitiveness of it, then again I say go for it. For my son I have been using Abeka math and the repetitiveness drives him nuts so together he and I thin it a bit. We go through and trim down the number of problems in a section, or cut out the occasional section he just doesn't need. The thing is you just need to be willing, no matter what curriculum you invest in to be flexible. That is the point of an individual education as opposed to the cookie cutter variety.

We don't use Lifepac but did consider it before finding the Robinson Curriculum. My friends have used Lifepac as a resource along with other things -- they seem to like it just fine. RC costs less --- and I like it enough to recommend it above all others.

It is a very education oriented program. Pulled my son out of the Public School system to do home-ed. This is the educational system that I use. It is very difficult if your child has already attended school. It will not stick to a single subject but gives variation. I wanted to send my teen son back to public school, he had a hissy fit. I want an education, he stated. I don't want to be stupid like the rest of the kids in public schools. Last year he had a full year of American History. This year it is political science in the 9th grade. It was really difficult at first because I had to do a placement test and was equivelant to a 5th grader. I wouldn't put him back and we struggled. I would recommend these to anyone that wants to do home-ed.
