I posted this as my answer to a similar question:
1) An uncircumcised penis is very hard to keep sanitary.
2) Uncircumcised penises are very sensitive to touch, which only hinders certain sexual activities.
3) There is a very good chance that he will have to be circumcised at a later date. My grandpa had to when he was in his 50's because of severe infection of his urinary tract.
I can't think of any pros. I wish I was circumcised.

When my son was born they couldn't circumcise him because he had a hypospadius and he had very little but very tight foreskin. They said he'd have to grow some more before they could do it. So they did the circumcision and corrective surgery for a curvature of his penis when he was 7 months old. I thought it would be ALOT more painful and I literally cried while they had him in surgery because I just knew it was going to be this big painful horrible experience for him. I thought he'd have days of pain medication; I didn't think he'd play or anything because of the pain. I WAS WRONG! As soon as I got him home, he was off! He played as if there's was nothing wrong. He never even cried once! Wasn't fussy at all!
Because it was also corrective surgery (for the hypospadius and the curvature), he really needed to have it done. I'm glad I let them. I know ALOT of mothers who didn't have their sons circumcised by choice or because they were preemies; and they've just about ALL had problems later - infections! If I were in your shoes, I'd do it. I really would. With the infections, I really feel it's a health issue; not an aesthetic issue!
Good luck to you both no matter what you decide!

I'm a 22 year old mother of a 2 year old boy, since I've had my baby he was never circumcise because the hospital wouldn't do it they felt it wasn't important. But to me it is because he has always kept an infection in his penis I hate it. I think u should get him circumcise before it's to late. I am soon.
1.Religious observance. The religious lays of both Islam and Judaism require that newborn boys be circumcised.
2.Cleanliness. Since it's easier to keep a circumcised penis clean.
3.Parents don't want their sons to feel different from their friends or from their father, Your child may be in a locker room full of guys and be uncomfortable to shower.
4.Appearance. Some feel removal of the foreskin makes the penis more attractive.
The reason more parents decide against circumcision.
1. The lack of medical necessity. Many question the sense of removing a part of an infant/child body without good cause.
2.You might want to leave the decision to ur child
3. It could cause erection to be difficult seem like.
Anyway good luck with this if u have insurance or medicaid u can do something sooner that later

THIS is why newborn boys should be circumcised at birth. Do you have any idea what you're going to end up putting your son through if you have this done? If it had been done at birth, they would have numbed the area locally and snip snip...it's done, gone and forgotten in a matter of minutes. Now that you have a 3 year old, they're either going to have to HEAVILY sedate him, or give him general anesthesia, and he's going to be in a boat load of pain for several day as he'll be walking/running/playing. A newborn can barely move, so they heal VERY quickly. An active 3 year old will be running and possibly rub the head of his penis up against his diaper/underwear...shudder.

Most of the infection stuff can be cleared up simply with better hygiene -- you need to pull back the foreskin to clean his penis when bathing (and you'll need to teach your son how to do it for himself). In days long gone, doctors recommended circumcision for any number of things -- hygiene, to discourage masturbation, etc. But in this day and age, most medical professionals will tell you the only real reason to do it any more is religious -- particularly if he's already three years old.

I looked up some info.
Circumcision -- Medical Pros and Cons At A Glance
Inability to retract the foreskin fully at birth is not a medical reason for a circumcision.
Circumcision prevents phimosis (the inability to retract the foreskin at an age when it should normally be retractable), paraphimosis (the painful inability to return the foreskin to its original location) and balanoposthitis (inflammation of the glans and foreskin).
Circumcision increases the chance of meatitis (inflammation of the opening of the penis).
Circumcision may result in a decreased incidence of urinary tract infections.
Circumcision may result in a lower incidence of sexually transmitted diseases.
Circumcision may lower the risk for cancer of the cervix in sexual partners.
Circumcision may decrease the risk for cancer of the penis.
There is no absolute medical indication for routine circumcision of the newborn.

Pros - clean and hygienic, better looking appearance, less susceptible to sexually transmitted infections later in life.
Cons - a little bit painful when the anesthesia is administered. After that though, it's home free! Hehehe. The pain is only felt when the anesthesia wears off. But that can be relieved by pain medications.
Suggestion: Do your kid a favor and get it done.

It will hurt, but have it done now before the infections get worse. The infections are probably causing alot more pain than the surgery will. And then you'll not have to worry about infections!

If it has been suggested by a doctor then its probably a good idea. I know it is going to be very expensive though. You need to find a urologist who will do it. I would definately reccomend it. But probably for different reasons than you because I had my sons done at birth and you didnt. Think about the reasons you didnt have it done before and weigh the options now. I had my sons done for social reasons mostly. The men in our family are and I didnt want him to feel different. And I didnt want a girl to think he was different when he gets older.
