Because Hezzbo are such a bunch of pansies that they have to hide in civilian populations, and hospitals and schools that they know the Israeli's wont attack instead of coming out and fighting like men. Just more proof on what scared animals they are.

Probably because of world opinion and Israel being the bad guy (although their soldiers were kidnapped, and Israel has always responded heavy handed, don't tease a rattlesnake and then get pissed when it bites) they handled this war with kid gloves. Israel exercising restraint held back the brunt of their military forces when it came to Lebanon at the urging of the UN and US. If they really wanted to kick Hezbollah's ***, believe me they would have.

In short maybe it will make the terrorist "bolder" and "think" they won a major battle. If it does imagine their surprise when Israel whom they think is now a "weak" nation unleashes their full military muscle against them the next time (including small range nukes).

The troops complained about not being equipped or fully trained for the Hezbollah army. That Hezbollah fought harder and better than anticipated.

I also heard an Israeli general on TV complain that the way the ground troops went in and fought at the border first was not a good battle plan. That it would have been better to go farther into Lebanon, clean up in the bigger towns and then head back south. That way Hezbollah wouldn't be able to send as many reinforcements. There was an article on this in yesterday's Washington Post. I'll look for a link. Also, there was a lot of debate and recriminations in the Knesset, regarding the strategy used in Lebanon.
_____
Another theory is that Israel was, in part, following a battle plan developed in cooperation with the US! which relied almost entirely on air strikes for victory. This is from Seymour Hersch, who unfortunately has been right about a lot of things in the past.

Have you ever built a wall around you just to find out that the true enemy lives inside of you? Probably not because you are not that stupid. But the situation is like that in Israel not taking a lesson from the Berlin wall. People of the world are in need of more bridges and schools than walls and weapons.
Eventually human race will become civilized enough to a degree that collective thinking becomes the key to co-existence rather than bullying small nations.

Because the Israel Army is not that strong. They may have a good Air Force but you need an army to control the land. That is why the highest rank is Field Marshal.

Teacher said it correctly. Conventional forces have a difficult time fighting insurgents, guerrillas, whatever you want to call them. Look at our early history in America when we fought the most disciplined and largest ground army in Europe, that being Great Britain. We won because we knew the terrain, and many spent time in the English Army fighting the French in the French-Indian Wars. We need more operators, more special forces soldiers, and if the Army would closely look at the curriculum it my open the doors for more candidates. We need heavy forces, but not as many as during the cold war, but we mostly need smaller combat teams that have a mixture of every specialty in it organically. We need female operators, we need more people to conduct covert operations. The bad news is even though Iran has some up-to-date weapon hardware, and Syria with older Russian weapon hardware, they have many, many field operatives and they will not fight us conventionally, but unconventionally.

Israel proved its only good at killing Innocent civilians, they lost this war big time, a few of their soldiers are dead or injured, others were shiting them selves till Israel rushed to call for a cease fire without the release of their kidnapped soldiers that the whole war started over. That's tells you something doesn't it!!? I can't help but wonder?!! If the Jews are the chosen people and Palestine is their promised land?!! why isn't god on their side?!!

Because Israel cares about killing innocent people and have thus restrained their airstrikes. When you're a cold-hearted blood-thirsty terrorist that doesn't care who you kill, it's alot easier to put a notch in the win column. Same thing with the United States ... the war in Iraq could have been over long ago if we bombed the hell out of the country like we did to Germany in WWIII, but too many innocents would die and we as a nation (even our military) have a conscience. Terrorists have no conscience and no remorse for those they kill.

You can't fight a guerrilla war with tanks and planes. Ask the Brits, Germans, Spanish and French who have all been through this.
A tank is no good against a 2-man team with a RPG rocket who fire it at a tank column and hide in the trees/caves/town. A plane is no good against a solo civilian dressed guy who throws some Semtex into the back of a APC and runs away. Think man. Use your brains.
