Blackberries and grapes are both part of the Magnolia family. Blackberries are not true berries, so that sets them apart from the berry family. Both fruits are high in polyphenol antioxidants. Both fruits are subject to mold and disease. This is why both fruits have been hybridized to obtain much hardier varieties.
