Beer is brewed from hops and barley (and in some cases wheat). Grain is a heavy duty carbohydrate. If you eat too many carbs w/o the proper amount of exercise, you gain weight.
Red wine contains antioxidants which are good for your blood. Suggested consumtion of red wine is moderate (1-2 glasses/day)

Beer belly is not a myth. Beer drinkers, unfortunately do not get enough exercise.
Carbs are the culprit. Each glass contains 150 calories. If you put in this much empty calories, day after day it will go straight to your waist.
Red wine appears to be good for your health, according to research. The French are a fine example (low heart disease), even though their diet is rich in cream & cheese. ( a big no-no for N.Americans).
Yogurt is the best for your health. They have found that the Africans who have yogurt in their diet suffer from low cholestrol incidence compared to N.Americans. African nomads, as you know eat meat. In that context, the researches found yogurt appears to help in digestion and fight against high LDL.
Anyway you look at it, sedantary lifestyle is the problem with N.Ams.

Beer belly is a myth. The truth is that drinking whole milk will give you a much bigger belly a lot faster. So will eating chicken wings or hot dogs or hamburgers.
It is just that at the stage of life that men get bellies like that, they are often fond of beer.
Saying that men who have a beer belly got it from drinking beer makes about as much sense as saying that men with love handles got it from too much love. It is just a cute word that we use to describe anatomy.

Beer slows down the body's metabolism so you experience weight gain if you still eat normally, not to mention the eating done during and/or after drinking.
Red wine, and even beer, is good for you as long as you take in moderation: one glass (12oz) of red wine, or a bottle of beer a day should do you good.

it increases it because of a complex molecule in the beer that attracts molecules in nearby sofas causing the person drinking it to react by sitting on a sofa most of the time... But since the sofa is larger than the drinker this in turn causes the need to drink more and more beer...
Red wine is good for its antioxidant properties, but only in moderation... one glass a day is good for you, two bottles a day is not....

Have you never heard of the term "beer Belly"? Red wind every now and then is suppose to be beneficial to health. But doctors say one thing today, and change their views tomorrow, just like the salt controversy. Now salt is suppose to be good for you again.
