why exactly does this bother you? if you keep answering questions it's bound to happen sooner or later, I have gotten at least one that I know of like that, but since you are at level one I don't know if you can veiw the leaderboard or not, this is my favorite place to go see people who have only answered 200 questions or so and yet some how have well over 5 thousand points, or people who choose to make friends with someone on here and they both answer each others questions and give each other best answer all the time, Yahoo points like life isn't fair, why do you need to punish others just because they beat the system?

Nothing! Leave a comment or move on. Not all of the questions asked on Yahoo Answers have a right or wrong answer. A large amount of the information posted here is just supposition and opinion. It is not a test, just a means of passing along information, or for some just passing the time. Best Answers are the answer the questioner liked best. It does not necessarily have to be correct.

The problem is according to whom? In a public forum the signal-to-noise will always be low.

I find that occasionally in my answers, I am specifically refuting some of the other incorrect answers that might sound good. Who knows whether the asker uses that information. Or ultimately whether my answer is correct either? ;-) I typically only bother doing that for medical questions where I might consider some of the other answers dangerously misleading.

For creating an extensive factually correct information base, I think the Wikipedia model is excellent... but that isn't the objective here.

There is no way to verify that. Anything you do will be vulnerable to flaws. The thumbs up and down is intended for a double check, but most people just breeze through them for points, which I think is why they got rid of the points for thumbs up or down. The thumbs up and down should be a better double check now

over all the asker voters may find the answer interesting or help-full.. if people wanted a pure factual answer i am sure they would seek a more specialised method of doing so.. most answers are opinions?

i believe this is a place of opinions and any answer should be followed up by a professional - if it may cause harm to an indidivual and let's face it - there are some crazy, silly people on here.

there is a function to add a comment to a best answer and you can vote on it with a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

What are you talking about?

It depends on the question but the key thing is that this is not a reliable source on any question - just people's differing opinions.
