I've been using it for years and so far without side effects....havent' grown a third eye....lol It does contain sorbital which is sometimes causes diarreha if consumed in large quantities. Splenda is an excellent substitute but doesn't give the sweetness as Sweet N Low. Happy Wednesday!

A person is better off to use real sugar is lower amounts than any sugar substitute - as all substitutes require chlorine to break them down = just learned this as I have metal poisoning and am allergic to chlorine = sugar is a natural - artificial sweetners are not. You might try substituting honey - I personally prefer sugar - I just have had to learn to taper what I perceive as being sweet. There is one sweetner on the market that most health food stores consider acceptable and you can get it at wal -mart, but it cost - it's called Stevia - it doesn't require a heavy metal to break it down - but stay away from aspartame, saccahrin, in general, any sugar substitute - they require other substances to break down and flush through the sytem and if your body doesn't want to break them down you can develop cancer, kidney stones or kidney problems, bladder infections, heart conditions - this may seem extreme - but I've seen it - most of them lead to diabetes - the things we have to learn the hard way - excellent question!

Of the artificial sweeteners, Splenda is the best. It has very few reports of side effects. But the VERY BEST sweetener is Stevia. It is a totally natural sweetener that is so concentrated that it has no calories. It used to be hard to find, but is getting easier. WalMart carries it now, as do most health food stores.

No-
Saccharin is carcinogenic (Sweet''n'Low) - plus it tastes nasty.
Aspartame is linked to migraine headaches (Equal/NutraSweet)
Sucralose has not been studied extensively on humans (Splenda)
I find that all of them alter the flavor of food negatively.
I prefer to just use less sugar, or honey - depending on what it's for. I've weaned myself down over the years.

I don't believe in using any sugar substitutes! Simply feel that it can't possibly be healthy. Do you use tons of sugar a day? If not, don't worry about it and go ahead and use the real stuff!!

No.
It's poison. It's known to cause cancer.
Instead of an artificial sweetener you should eat regular sugar, just eat less of it. Drink less or no pop, cut down on sweets and eat fruit instead.
Splenda is not better by the way. And it causes diarrhea.

absolutely not! the chemical nutrasweet (in sweet n low) has been found to kill ants. sprinkle some wherever ants are and they will take it back to their queen and it will kill the entire colony. so i wonder what it has been doing to us?
i use splenda - the yellow packets. a natural sugar.
have a great day!
