For the same reason they don't want their children to come into their bedroom when they are having sex. It is a private issue. Some parents find it hard to discuss certain medical examinations that their children need to have because it is of a personal nature. It is just something you have to take a deep breath and jump into because it is necessary so they can get the answers they need the right way.

I once been there and use to think sex discussion with kids was
nasty until I got older. Some parents rather buy them a book on the discussion rather than talk to them. Then parents now a days
are young and do not know much themselves - even they are still
experminenting. Then parents wait too long to discuss facts making it hard holding the intent to inside of them.

It's undoubtedly because sex is generally known as a private matter... therefore, hard to discuss it, because of it being a subject concerning intimacy.
Private means>>> personal, intimate, secret, hush-hush, not public, delicate, fragile, difficult.
Sharing some personal secrets/details about intimacy can hard to deal with... when it's fragile, we must >>> "handle with care."
If we don't deal with the matter carefully, we could ruin/destroy things.

not only do they not want to see them that way, they don't want to put ideas into their heads if they aren't already there. It's so hard to figure out what is informing them and condoning them when it comes to subjects like sex and drugs. Not to mention its leaves room for questions that they don't feel like answering to anybody.
