I have very bad allergies which make me sneeze a lot and give me itchy wattery eyes. I feel like I have to sneeze constantly and it's making my throat sore. My doctor says that it is not safe to use allergy medication other than flonase, which seens to make it worse for me. Is there something else I can do?

i was told that i could use regular Claritin (not claritinD). I was also able to use tylenol sinus. i am not sure which doctor you spoke to (your general doctor or your OB), but I would recommend checking with the OB. most of them do not want you to suffer. when i was pregnant (all 4 times) i was given a sheet of all the different OTC meds that i could take.

PS, I used allergy meds and an anti-anxiety med while pregnant (okay'd by the doctors) and my kids are normal with absolutely no problems whatsoever (other than being know it all 9 & 7 year olds and normal tempermental toddlers that are 2 & 4!!)

My Dr. said it was okay to use Claritan while I was pregnant so I did. And my current Dr. told me that if I start trying to have another baby to stop my current medication and switch back to Claritan since it is the only one they have done research on and it hasn't had any bad effects on babies. Benadryl is also okay to use when you are pregnant, but it does pass on to the baby and can make him/her sleepy in the womb. Consult another Dr. for a second opinion. And don't just take these medications based on my word, it's still best to get your Dr.'s approval. There is no reason you should be suffering with allergies, really, ask another Dr.

If the doctor you have now prescribes medication that does not work (and in fact makes your symptoms worse) and insists that is the only thing you are allowed to use, you need to find a different doctor asap who is willing to listen to you.

My dr said benadryl was ok. but not to take anything "non drowsy" which kind of sucks. Good luck.
