how are boutique hotels different from service apartments?

Both are personalised accomodation.. and involve common facilities like a common dining hall, maid services etc.. also common decor .. soem boutique hotels are owned by coporate houses for use as guest houses for their own clients/employees ......so is there any difference? Is it just abt short stay versus long stay, or is there anything else?
Do they both have help desks and lobbies?

Boutique .......small, compact hotels. Usually they are rated from one to three star.
100 rooms seems to be the upper limit .
Service quality, the cleanliness and the hygienic conditions are significantly good in these pretty hotels. Mainly situated near sea, hills

The fundamental difference is that a Boutiqe hotel is not part of a franchise or hotel chain.

Now, this could apply with serviced apartments also, unless they were part of a chain. The serviced apartments could be privately owned

With serviced apartments, you have a kitchen and your own cooking facilities if you wish to do so. It is more like an apartment. So therefore more suited to long stay.

A hotel room will not have this kitchenette facility.

Both are serviced in as much as linen and towels are changed, and the rooms are cleaned daily.

Both will have lobbies, althought the desk of the apartments (depending on where you stay) may not be manned after hours and will be lacking a night duty manager or night auditor that usually man the front office of a hotel.

In some cases, when staying in serviced apartments, if you are a late arrival, you collect your key from a safe outside the door using a pre-arranged pin code.

The difference between a boutique hotel and a normal hotel is that a boutique hotel is unique in terms of its theme,decor,etc as opposed to normal chain hotels which always have the same kind of basic decors. Like a Best Western or a Holiday Inn will look pretty much the same everywhere else in the world. As for the difference between a service apartment and a boutique hotel is that normally service apartment are just that....apartments and almost all of them have kitchens/kitcehnnetes where you can cook
