I have seen a powerful method taught to stutterers by speech therapists that helped people to stop stuttering. The emphasis is on really slowing down your speech patterns, it takes practice but seemed to be very effective in the documentaries I watched. Have a look on the web for it. There must be a stutterers society or other group/s that can help you with this. Good luck.

Check your insurance and go see a good Speech Pathologist who will teach you tricks.
Did you know that singing uses a dif part of the brain than talking? You need to learn to relax and talk slowly, as if singing (in your mind) what you are going to say. Practice in front of a mirror. And realize that when you are stressed, the stuttering could increase.
Friends will learn to accept your stuttering. And strangers who do not, are jerks.
Google for a support group in your area of speech impediments. If anyone can help you is someone who has walked the walk. Good luck!

Just STFU, you will never stutter again that way! ;)
Actually it has to do with your breathing combined with upcoming anxieties. So make an inventory of whatever makes you anxious/shy and get a remedy for those. That will most likely make an end to your stuttering. But it's not an instant remedy like what I said earlier. Just take your time though.

Don't listen to any of the other answers, unless they say to have speech therapy. I stutter, and I'm about your age. I've stuttered since I was three, and when I was fourteen I got a SpeechEasy fluency device. It helps so much.
Unfortunately, there's no cure/remedy for stuttering.
Please contact me - I don't know many other stutterers. xzvlkdl@yahoo.com.
Thanks.

I saw a TV show about a guy who stuttered but was always able to say prayers normally in church. He realised that he didn't stutter when he hears an echo of what he's trying to say. He built an earpiece that does exactly that. It works for 90% of people perfectly. If you keep googling you'll find it. (it might have been on Oprah years ago)

Mel Tillis overcame a stuttering problem.
Even in his orating, he still speaks slowly to an extent, thinking carefully before speaking.
A phenomena about stuttering is that one can sing without experiencing it.
If you haven't, try singing. It should help.
I think it must often be exacerbated by experiences as a child. Other children can be very cruel.
Try singing. It will help.
Good luck.

Stuttering is the result of a traumatic incident in your life, ...I don't know how long you have stuttered, but there was a Country Western singer, Mel Tillis, who stuttered for years...read this article, and it may give you some advice for dealing with it..I personally think you will enjoy it and be surprized at those who also stutter...you might research this, and this article might help also....http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/jan2000/nf00119a.htm ...that is the one about mel tillis, and this one is about causes...http://www.cureresearch.com/s/stuttering/causes.htm...........good luck and God Bless

John Stossel on 20/20 on tv used to stutter and went to some school (you might be able to contact him through abcnews.com and he would prob. give you info) but there is a medication i think even for this-would have to contact a psychiatrist-it's basically all mental and w/ will power you can overcome this-i would say put yourself in more situations where you have to address`a large group and overcome your fear.
