Pi doesn't have to be 3.1415.... This only happens when space-time is flat.

There are TWO equally likely possibilities for the biblical value of pi:
1) The universe was created a few thousand years ago and has rapidly expanded to its current size. A moment or two after universal creation the value of pi was quite small due to the high curvature of space-time. The value of pi has rapidly increased to its current value as the universe has expanded. If one calculates the value of pi that would occur on a manifold whose curvature is consistent with that of our universe when the biblical statement was made, then one discovers that pi was actually 3. The fact that such an environment would not support chemistry as we know it is all explained away in my upcoming book "The Great Rationalizer".

2)The presence of God warps space-time. Since the passage occured in the bible, then God must have been present and it was His presence that caused the value of Pi to change. Such an observation is consistent with other events in the old testament like the burning bush since a heavily altered value of pi changes the activation energy for oxidation reactions.

See. It all fits together. Now isn't it easier to accept my alternatives then to doubt literal innerancy? I can add words with more prefixes if that will help...

The bible is symbolic and relates ideas that existed thousands of years ago. There are errors, because man wrote the bible and man is prone to error. The 10 commandments are really a great idea, but you will violate every one of them and only by belief in God can you be saved from sin. Actually man created all Gods because he did not want to die. He then goes out to kill everyone that doesn't believe exactly what he believes. Evolution is a fact from beginning to end. There are some mistakes in understanding all the aspects of it, but there is no doubt in the final analysis. The Bible is a fact and it also it has many errors.

Beware the urban legend (see sources). There's quite a bit of myth here.

In addition, the falsehood of the bible does not "prove evolution". Evolution has to stand on its own two feet. You seem to be making the same error here that many creationists make, in the assumption that demonstrating errors in evolution demonstrates that their religious beliefs are true. That's simply not true: each belief system must stand on its own two feet. The fact that evolution does stands up on its own so well is why we know that it is true.

I cant really understand your question about pi, but I think that The Bible can be in accordance to evolution. God creates things, living things that can evolve, that can change if they need to...why people think that evolutions is against the Bible; It isn't. God creates the animals, the sea, and all that is in our world, God creates life itself, and God create us the Human being.
We evolve from God, not from monkeys, but we have evolve in some, sort of way since the creation. Only that no one will found never the missing link, because it doesn't exist. Science have discover that every human have a special common Dna, that came from our ancestor mother or father.
Religion, man made religion is the one who say things and who invent things according to their needs. They change the words of God.

I'm from Indiana. In the 19th century, our legislature tried to define pi as 4. I'd say that's proof evolution DOESN'T exist (at least, within the Indiana Legislature)!

Oh, come ON!!!! Just because the verse doesn't say "it was 31.4125 cubits around" this somehow proves evolution? Have you ever heard of rounding?

The Bible isn't a scientific or mathematical treatise, it's a history book. Measurements given are accurate enough to satisfy most (ie non-anal) people.

If you study Kings you will learn that Pi works out to about 10 decimal points!

Study not read!

This is a mathematical error
some people may argue that because the bible contains one or more errors, it cannot be the word of god. That is a very, very simplistic argument that biblical apologists are very adept at refuting

In any case, It has nothing to do with evolution one way or the other.

If you are looking for truth then I suggest that the Bible is as likely as Grimms' Fairytales to help you. Remember - religion is just organised supersition.

Nope. Read both pages of this article for more information: http://www.abarim-publications.com/Arie/Bible/PiInTheBible.html

The argument against the position that the Bible is incorrect is longer than I could present here.

Peace and love in Jesus.
