Cows really don't get fat eating nothing but grass. The fattened cattle (for butchering) are fed ever increasing amounts of corn and other grains. This is what happens in a feedlot which is where they fatten out most of the beef people eat. When they are at optimum weight for butchering, they are sent to made into beef. We have two in the corral we are fattening out right now and they started out with a little bit of corn and will soon be steaks!

The guts of Cows contain Bacteria that are capable of converting Grass, made primarily of Cellulose;into digestible sugars.Cellulose is a high molecular weight sugar that cannot be digested by animals, but cows have bacteria in their Stomachs(they have 4 of them) capable of breaking cellulose down to lower molecular weight digestible sugars. These sugars(carbohydrates) are what make the cows fat.

Have you ever seen a cow run much? Move much? Anyway, I think cows are just big and actually for their size do not have much fat.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

lol they're not fat. they literally have big organs and bone structure...that grass gives them very little energy, so generally with cows what you see is skin and bone

In addition to Mrknowitall answer, one can ask: "How is it that grass can contain sugars by feeding itself with sunlight and dirt ?"
Biology is the literally essential technology.

Excess calories from any source will cause you to gain fat. Your body can manufacture fat from any food, as long as you can digest it.
