In modern English, you could translate it as something like this:
Our Father, who is in heaven, may your name be holy.
May your Kingdom come, may your will be done on earth; like your will is done in heaven.
Give us our daily food today, and forgive the bad things that we do
While we forgive people who do bad things to us.
And don't lead us to temptation (or, lead us away from temptation), but protect us from evil.
For the Kingdom, the power and the glory all belong to you for ever and ever.
May it be so.
'your will' means something like 'your desires' or 'the things that you want to happen'
'temptation' is the feeling we get that makes us want to do bad things.
I hope this helps.

Do you wan the whole prayer...or just the daily bread part?? Well this is the what the daily bread part means: God desires we ask Him each day for our daily needs. Often we reluctantly ask Him for material things. Yet, in the prayer Christ taught us to pray, it is very clear tha Father desires this type of petition. In our ministry, we are thouroughly dedicated to Him and our only desire to win souls! And, all Christians everywhere, as long as they will use the money for the Kingdom, should pray this same prayer with prosperity!!

It is simply a guideline from Jesus to the disciples that teaches them how to pray. The "give us this day our daily bread" part reflects on the Jews in the wilderness and God's provision of the manna, but it is simply saying to petition God at this point in the prayer - ie after Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be they name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day... He wants any prayers you give, but has given a pattern to follow as well. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I'll try an explain. The other parts a straight forward.
Our Father who art in heaven (art in heaven means is in heaven)
Hallowed be thy name ( Let your name be glorified)
Thy kingdom come (The kingdom of God is inside us, this is inviting him to dwell in and amongst us)
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven(What God has planned for you as an individual, and us as a nation, let is be done)
Give us this day our daily bread (What we need for today spiritually,physically and mentally)
And forgive us our trespasses (forgive us our sins - what God says is sin, according to His Law)
As we forgive those that trespass against us (The bible says judge not, that ye may not be judged. The same forgiveness you expect of other and God, you need to give)
Lead us not into temptation (Do not allow us to sin)
But deliver us from evil (Save us from sin)
For thine is the kingdom
The power and the glory
Forever and Ever, Amen ( This whole part is acknowledging who God is - you are worshiping Him)
I hope I answered your question. God bless.

it gives us an example of how we are to pray daily bread is the spiritual guidence and the things we need the prayer starts out praising the Lord We ask for His will to be done on earth we ask for forgiveness of ourselves and others we ask to not be led astray so we can walk the path he wants from us we ask for deliverence from the things we are not strong enough to handle and we praise him again

we can basically basically pray the Lords prayer. yet its an occasion prayer Jesus mentioned once you pray, pray like this. So its a physique paintings or an occasion of a thank you to desire. once I destroy it down what i see is compliment and worship. Intercession for desires forgive and ask forgiveness religious conflict by using resign to Gods sovereignty. (lead us no longer into testing/temptation yet grant us from evil) (For thine is the dominion the skill and the dignity with no bring about sight amen).

....'Let your NAME be sanctified'...this is first on the list on judgment day, God will sanctify his name, YHWH/Jehovah when he judges Jehovah's Witnesses and ALL Christians..1Peter4:17,Luke 12:41-48..
....'Let your Kingdom come'..When God judges governments; Daniel 2:44..
....'Let your will be done on earth at it is in Heaven'...Heaven is a Paradise, in which righteousness exist, and earth will become likewise, 2Peter 3:13, Isaiah 11:9..
'Give us today our bread for this day'..is a petition to God to provide for our need for food, and apparently people do not see the need to ask this, when their closets are full, but if you experience hardship or famine, you won't forget to ask..
'and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors,' We should be aware that God requires us to love and forgive other first, before receiving his forgiveness..
'And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.' We are asking God to help us not enter into tempting situations, as the wicked ones are always plotting to tempt and destroy us, spiritually and literally..

The Lord's Prayer is one of the most prominent prayer in the Bible which was taught by Jesus himself when He said "This is how you pray"
Effectiveness in prayer needs 2 foundation, that is ABIDING and CLEANSING. And this foundation has a principle to be followed namely; a) pray in jesus name b) pray in God's word c) pray in faith. If you followed this formula, your prayer will be effective, because Bible says "The prayer of the righteous availeth much"
With regards to the Lords Prayer
OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME - it calls for adoration. Adoration and praises with emphasis on honor is the begining of all prayer to God - As the scriptures says "God inhabit the praises of his people" (psalm 111) Address Jehovah as the one you are talking too.
THY KINGDOM COME - Spiritual requests: save the lost, wisdom, harmony in church
THY WILL BE DONE - Selflessly acknowledge God as supreme,
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD - Physical and Spiritial requests: food (Thought and physical), job, healthb)
FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US - Confession of sin and request for forgiveness. You cannot enter the presence of God in prayer without confessing (Isaiah 6:1-5) God won’t answer our prayers when there is sin in our lives (Ps 139:23-24; 66:18; Pr 28:9,13; Isa. 59:1) God won’t forgive us unless we forgive others too: (Mt 6:14-15) The Consequences of not confessing our sins to God is we make God a liar: (1 John 1:9-10) we are in the "bond of iniquity" (Acts 8:22-23) It has a big effect upon our physical health too: (Ps 32:3-7)
AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL - Expectation of God’s providential guidance
fOR THY IS THE KINGDOM AND THE POWER AND GLORY FOREVER AND EVER AMEN - Adoration & praise with emphasis on being all in all. Thanksgiving is for what God has done
All this things can be summarized into the following:
A = Adoration
C = Confession
T = Thanksgiving
S = Supplication
Remember, Jesus teach us also to pray unceasingly, with which to other is impossible to attain or to do. But, let me tell you this old story about praying without ceasing. This guide would probably make you raise your eyebrow.
The Story
A group of ministers had assembled for the discussion of difficult questions. Among other, it was asked how the command to "pray without ceasing" could be complied with. Various explanations were given. It was finally agreed that one was appointed to write a lengthily essay on it which would be read at the next meeting.
The entire discussion was overheard by a young woman who had been serving the tea. She said, "What? A whole month to tell the meaning of that text? Why it is one of easiest and best texts in the Bible!"
"Well, well, Mary", said an old minister, "what can you say about it? Let us know how you understand it. Can you pray all the time without ceasing?"
"Oh yes, sir!" "What?" the old minister coughed back, "when you have so many things to do?" "Why, sir, the more I have to do, the more I can pray!" "Indeed", he replied, "Well Mary, let us know how it is. Most of us think the answer is otherwise."
"Well, sir", she said, "when I first open my eyes in the morning, I pray ‘Lord, open the eyes of my understanding’; and while I am dressing, I pray that I may be clothed with the robes of righteousness; when I wash, I ask for the washing of regeneration; as I work, I pray that I may have the strength equal to my day; as I sweep out the house, I pray the my heart may be cleansed from all impurities; while preparing and eating of breakfast, I pray to be fed with the hidden manna and the sincere milk of the Word; as I am busy with the little children, I ask God to make me become as a child; and so on, all day. Everything I do furnishes me with a thought for prayer."
"Enough, enough", cried the old minister, "these things are revealed to babes and his from the wise and prudent. Go on , Mary, pray without ceasing. May we all do the same!"

our father who is in heaven - refering to the main one you want not you father in earth but the one in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. - glory be to his name (he exalt is name more than anything so dont play aroung with Gods name) till his kingdom come to us.
Thy will be done,On earth as it is in heaven.
because he his the king dat reigns in our heart and you follow your heart so you do his will since he rules in you
Give us this day our daily bread.
we need food, so he is our el shaddai that provide for our need daily, cos our need changes all the time.
And forgive us our trespasses,
we are sinners and he is the only one that can forgive us
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
by telling us this, he is asking us this little task of forgiving someone that hurts you, so you can also see, the goodness and pain of forgiving
And lead us not into temptation,
asking for his protection over us and since the devil knows his time is near and he want to hurt God so, by asking this God is going to know you need protection from satan
But deliver us from evil.
saving you from the truble you are in already
and that is the real version of the lords prayer and i the rest is man made through God, put that in mind,
All this is given unto us so we wioll not have to go anywhere to ask them to pray for us and you can then pray anywhere you are, so long you can breathe, he is there with you ALWAYS even in there uh uh.
