I want to take my camcorder on my trip to Australia/New Zealand, but I don't know what I need in order to charge it. What type of devices can I get to take care of the voltage differences? I need something that would be lightweight.

I am from the USA and brought my son's X-Box and my laptop to Australia. We went to the radio shack or a store similar. They have different wattages for the voltage regulator. We broke down and bought the one for 99$ We have it still and only needed to change the fuse once. Either that or use the car adapter. That is universal. I was able to use my CD player in the car and my CD player is from the States.

When you get there go to an electronics store and buy a voltage converter. It is lightweight and runs about $35 U.S. I have been to both North and South Island on separate occasions and plan to go again in the next few years. It is one of my most favorite places in the world. Check out my 360 page. I just posted up a few of my pictures from South Island from October 2004. I just started this Yahoo answers in the last couple of weeks so I am building the site and later will get up pictures of more of my travels.

Well it depends on your charger and your plug. You will need a plug adapter but you may also need a charger adapter. Most consumer electronics products can handle 110-240v. Check on the underside of the black box charger. IF it says 110-240v you will be fine. If you are in the US and it only says 110-120v then it will be incompatibel with the Australian 220-240v system (which 90% of the rest of th world uses). You will need a universal plug adapter as well... easily purchased in any airport.

I used a car adapter and bought additionally a 240V AC to 12V DC converter (make sure it has already the australian plug, or buy a plug adapter for little money). It worked fine with my laptop and my camcorder. Advantage: you can use the car adapters when you're back at home (maybe you even have them already).

They don't actually live here with the consequences, that's why. They just see the rosy image of a black President and think that it's just so wonderful. Just like a lot of Americans, before they vote, believed it would be just swell when the fixer-of-all takes the White House.
